[quote="demented"] Also imagine being in the background hearing an anime with the original Japanese voices, you're gonna hear the usually female shrill, squeaky, high pitched-ass voices (Lina Inverse, Faye Valentine, Aeka), or men that sound like little kids. (eg Goku, Megaman, Shinji, Kenshin, Kurama). That's pretty much enough to wonder why a grown person would watch childish things.

Yeah, it's kind of embarrassing...sometimes I feel really childish watching anime when I know my family's in the next room, and I can just imagine what they're hearing...for instance, just listen to the dub of Wolf's reign on CN with your eyes closed...yeah, it's weird! (I still like it, though...)

Voices In My Head

Post by HeavyMetal » Sun May 09, 2004 11:57 pm

You almost forgot the demonic voice.

That seems to be the range.

Girl's voices are shrill or meek. Guy's voices are kids or hell spawn.

I admit sometimes the English is just as bad like Aika form Tenchi or Relena fro Gundam Wing (Not a big fan. Great designs, but too much peace not enough shooting.)

I sometimes find an anime with a good Japanese voice cast though. Comedy tends to be funnier in the original dialogue without best fits.

demented you may want to define stuff it could be taken wrong.

I think its about 13 to who knows that the word stuff becomes a substitute for all nouns. Just messing I do it too.

Pokemon is a horrid way to come into anime. Sure it was a great old gameboy game, as the older ones lacked color and memory, but had a fun factor. (From a person whose old Nintendo sits in another room so the PS2 doesn't pick on it. Sue me I like the first Zelda.)

The show and new versions are all marketing gimmicks. No matter how cute Pikachu is drawn it still leaves the problem of a drawn out near plotless story with lots of selling points.

Not to mention its an entire world based on cocking fighting animals. You think PETA would have jumped in and started setting things on fire.

I don't think it is important as it goes for Anime, but important to have things in common that you can share. Cause some of things you don't share, you may pick up on over time. No one thing should hold you together.

For me, our interests were: Anime, Martial Arts, Action Flicks (similar type of movies basically), Work (cause we worked together on campus), and God.

then she got me into Angel (although this season is a horrid pile..), Church.

Although at this point, she's trying to get me into Naruto and doesn't understand why I don't like it.

I don't get what you're saying...isn't Anime a thing you can share...

the question was is it right, and I was just trying to point out that it doesn't matter one way or the other initially. Yes you can share it but I don't think it is something you should exclusively look for. To me that is limiting yourself.
