x_rex30 wrote:Let's not turn this too much into a DBZ vs Naruto thread. When so many DBZ fans come around and try to defend Naruto saying it's not DBZ (knowing a lot of people say DBZ sucks and is like Naruto) they try to say the show doesn't suck because it's not like DBZ.

To me they don't feel the same and are different in a lot of ways, but when DBZ fans come and flood the Naruto topics people get the impression it's like it because it seems to attract a lot of DBZ fans. I know a huge amount of folks that hate DBZ and love Naruto. One being my brother. I use to watch DBZ all the time in front of him and since there was nothing else to watch he ended up watching it with me. He hates it and loves Naruto and that says something. I though now sort of hate DBZ mainly because some of the most annoying people I've met in my life are huge DBZ fans.. sad but true. When I watch that show it reminds me of all the dumb asses that spent a lot of time expressing there love for it. so I look at it like michele jackson.. Even though the guy has nice music I can't help but to think of that ugly ass when listening to his music and with dbz it reminds me of all the dumb asses that watch it. So even though I have respect for the two man do I have a lot of hate for them. No point in what I wrote mainly just rambling nonsense and some things I've noticed with DBZers and such. I was going to be one of those people who show there love for DBZ but the community scared me away, so I can't help but think the show suxors in a way that it attracts dumbasses.. please some of you fuck tards jump in front of a moving vehicle. Not talking about people here just some people I've met that watch the show. Naruto though I always meet a lot of cool people that watch the show. I don't think respect will ever drop because things outside the quality of the show scare me off.

Lol, I have to agree with you when you said most of the DBZ fans out there ARE irritating, but their more obsessive over the show. I mean, I like the show a lot, yeah, but I won't get in a huff and get all dissapointed if I can't watch it. It's been almost a year since I've watched it.

:) Like I said, I respect everyone's choice of show watching and I won't get in their face and be like,"WHAT? THAT SHOW IS SO DUMB! YOU MUST WATCH DBZ!". If someone likes Naruto, Inyuyasha, One Piece or whatever anime you watch... 8-) cool. The world would be boring if people watched the same show. If someone doesn't like Dragonball Z, well, that's just them. *shrugs shoulders* No big deal as far as I'm concerned.

That is an enlightened view that I wish more people would adopt. I've taken flak before for liking certain series and it's just irritating. If people could at least produce a real reason for not liking something instead of "it's dumb!"

Also, I can't believe this thread is still alive.

 I agree with you on that. Some people tend to get in your face for the show you watch and all they really say is "It's so dumb! Why the heck do you watch it?" I've learned to just ignore those types of comments because if I don't, it ends up being a pointless argument. I asked someone once, "Well, what's the big deal if I watch Dragonball Z or Inyuyasha?" Their response?
"Well, I dunno! It's just dumb!".... :?
People just need to learn to take things as they are.

Also, this thread is still alive cuz it be rockin' 8-)

It should have, since the original question was answered and the subsequent debates are all pointless.

Naruto's clearly not the best anime I've ever seen. I like it though, because it's got a surprising amount of depth and things to predict for such a long running series. Plus there are times when the action can actually be good. The two things that actually kill naruto for me are the massive amount of fillers and how the developer/story writer feels the need to explain the life story of every single bad guy introduced at some point or another. I hate it when any anime does that.

I think Naruto gets the number of fans that it does because of the fact that it's at the very least, mediocre and because people like having a new episode to look forward to watching EVERY week. Shows such as naruto and bleach seem basically like the soaps for anime fans.

most anime series are released one episode per week, not just Naruto and Bleach. Actually, I said most but I can't remember any series that is/was released on a different time base. AFAIK, all are weekly.

I understand, but how many of them end up being as long as naruto with absolutely no sign of ending anytime soon? I mean at this rate, Naruto looks like it'll make 400 episodes before an ending is even in sight. That was kind of my main point. Shows like that seem to become pretty popular for one reason or another. Granted, I'm not an anime expert, and I know I haven't seen anywhere close to the amount of anime as others, but I'm willing to bet, Naruto has easilly got the potential to be one of (if not THE) longest running anime ever. I mean how many series can actually get away with showing around 100 eps of nothing but filler? lol

i think that put it perfectly, both in how you defended the show and in how you brought up it's biggest weaknesses

i also don't forsee this anime stopping anytime soon, and having read more than 300 chapters of it, i can say that i am honestly always waiting for the next chapter to be released

I'm interested in where the characters will go next, things are getting very climactic and still, there seems to always be some part of the story that will progress the series longer and ultimately give me something to look forward to

luckily for me, i haven't kept up on the anime so i haven't needed to suffer through nearly as much filler ^_^
If you're reading this, you've gone too far...PREPARE FOR RETRIBUTION!!
Don't judge an AMV by it's anime.. u nooB ;D
