I agree with you fully. My mom found my dummy stash and she killed me. I'd hate to see what would happen if she found the actual one. Though it's easier to hide now since I got a laptop.Sepvicious wrote:Oh, i hide my Hentai from my parents ^^Sepvicious wrote:I don´t hide it. In my clique i´m actually a anime-missionary xD

Well I only own one anime shirt, I used to have another one
but it got lost somewhere. I try to keep it to myself, I don't
want to be as bold. I do have a pretty hefty manga collection.
It's better just to keep these kind of things to yourself
because being a " rabid " fangirl/boy bullshit is kind of sick.
Imo I think it's more of an " LOOK AT ME I HAVE SUCH COOL SHIT "
which is so childish. : p

I wore the button I got for taking second place in the Viewer's Choice category at Anime Iowa's AMV Contest this year on my backpack until just a few hours ago, when somebody complimented it. They didn't seem to have any idea what it meant, and I knew they were just being nice, but it embarrased me enough that as soon as I got home, I removed it.

I never used to, but now that I'm out of highschool and starting anew, I find that I don't really want to bring it up.
When people find out I like anime, I feel that they stereotype me into a freaky, cosplaying, pokemon catching, Japanese phrase shouting otaku. And that's not what I am.
And I'm not dissing anyone who has any of these qualities either. I just don't want to be known for that. I'd rather people know me for who I am rather than what I'm into.
But if someone brings it up first, I'm usually willing to discuss it.

I guess I have it easy.
I'm old, and I don't have parents to deal with I AM the parent
My hobby room doesn't just scream anime fan. Actually it likely says I have an obsession with war.
Most would not realize all the furniture was made by me not bought.
The shelf's worth of literature on trains doesn't stand out too loudly.
The rolegaming books are really just 3 manuals, so that is nearly invisible.
And there's zero chance of being able to tell that all of the above takes a back seat to my love of cosmology and planetology.
If a person sees your anime and can't think you are anything but an anime geek, pity them for the retards they are and stop worrying about them.
