Not that this isn't predictable, but my favorite has always been:
Vaughn and Hitomi from Escaflowne.
[begin giant lie]
Now of course, this has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the fact that my ex-girlfriend had this thing for Hitomi and one time she and I dressed up as Vaughn and Hitomi. I might also add that my Escaflowne romance AMV fetish has nothing to do with that either .
[/end giant lie]
Damn you XXXXXXX for making me like these characters like a sappy bastard!!!! You guys know the power of women...

Oops, forgot to say why I liked them. I love the fact that their love transcends (ooh now I'm using Vlad's video) fate and different realities. I know a lot of people hate the ending where Hitomi leaves to go back to Earth, but if anything, I think that shows their relationship is A LOT stronger than most typical romances since they love each other regardless of where they are and don't need the physical thing (no u sickos I meant the need to be next to each other). I guess I'm a hopeless romantic, but I always loved that since I think that's true love.dwchang wrote:Not that this isn't predictable, but my favorite has always been:

I also like the fact that at the very end, their love goes against fate and wins (the Fate Alteration Machine). That symbolism was very powerful.
On a related note, I believe the Escaflowne creator was quite insulted at AX2001 when the Escaflowne movie premiered and people laughed when Hitomi left Gaea (again...like the TV series). He asked why people laughed and people replied that they were angry that she left AGAIN. He explained exactly what I said and I *know* this is going to come across as racist, but I honestly think this is a west/east problem.
In west cultures there seems to be a necessity for couples to BE together and to kiss and stuff. Hell, my ex-girlfriend hated the fact Vaughn and Hitomi never kissed. She also didn't like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon since the main character jumps. Again, I don't at ALL mean to sound racist or Anti-USA, but there definitely is a different mentality about relationships and loves in the cultures. I personally think one can be a lot more powerful and moving. Either way, that was SORT of related to what I was originally talking about
OMG I just ranted Sorry.
