Well i heard that FLCL was really good and funny ... i havent seen the manga or seen the series but i just heard that it was good ... thats all... its only like 6 episodes long right ....inuyashas_kagome wrote:FlCl was the absolute worst. It was pointless and irratating to watch. I've seen better episodes of Yugi-Oh. Animes about popular card games just never work.

Yeah, it's like you either love it, or you hate it. I have no idea why, though. Methinks solution is to watch it.Jonathan02us wrote:Well i heard that FLCL was really good and funny ... i havent seen the manga or seen the series but i just heard that it was good ... thats all... its only like 6 episodes long right ....inuyashas_kagome wrote:FlCl was the absolute worst. I love Furi Kuri.... and Yugioh... though I haven't seen very much of either dub, so I don't know what some people are seeing.Jonathan02us wrote:Well i heard that FLCL was really good and funny ... i havent seen the manga or seen the series but i just heard that it was good ... thats all... its only like 6 episodes long right ....inuyashas_kagome wrote:FlCl was the absolute worst. Look at all my trials and tribulations
Sinking in a gentle pool of wine.
Don't disturb me now, I can see the answers
'Till this evening is this morning, life is fine.

Well I have seen it, and I hated it. It was pointless up until the last episode, and it was very irritating most of the time. It seemed inspired by an acid trip many times each episode. However, keep in mind that I don't get random humor, it just doesnt work for me. It seems all my geek friends love that type of humor though. I dont like dry humor either, I'm more a fan of slapstick, dark humor, political or satirical humor, or Romantic humor (love hina, golden boy, full metal panic etc.) I only liked 3 parts of this anime, and only because I am a big fan of South Park, the Matrix, and the Seattle Mariners. There was a funny South Park bit (which must be seen) in episode 5, a good Matrix spinoff in the same episode, and a brief refference to Ichiro in the next episode trailer for episode 4.Jonathan02us wrote:Well i heard that FLCL was really good and funny ... i havent seen the manga or seen the series but i just heard that it was good ... thats all... its only like 6 episodes long right ....inuyashas_kagome wrote:FlCl was the absolute worst. At first you think the show will never make sense (because Gainax made it), but ironically the last episode explains everything perfectly. If it was meant as a drama and handled differently, with humor being more of a side story than the focus, it could have been a truly exceptional anime. There are many parts of this anime which are brilliant (visually, conceptually, but not comedically). The humor often seemed like it was made by 3 year olds, and was at about that energy level too.
In short, if you like random humor, for example Excel Saga or many online comics, then FLCL is your cup of tea. It wasn't mine.

MD Geist.
I hate that thing in a way that mere text cannot describe. I would travel back in time and re-live puberty if it meant that I could skip having seen this movie.
Urotsukidoji
picked this one off the rack at 2020 in the cartoons section, lets just say that I wasn't prepared to see teenagers getting repeatedly raped by demons, and everyone else. This is entertaining?
Venus Wars
something about it just pissed me off. Possibly it was having seen it after MD Geist. Everything sucked for about a year after seeing that. Except fist of the northstar.. that was great; heads exploding... great lines like "you are already dead, you just don't know it yet" and hordes of people living in the barren desert... no food no water, and apparently not needing either.
I know it doesn't count as a series, but the ending of evengelion (both of them) WTF? that's like watching Princess Mononoke, and instead of an ending we get stick figure theater for ten minutes followed by credits. Or having Akira shoot tetsuo... tetsuo dies and then sailor moon comes down and chastizes him for being mean. Or like watching a movie... say pulp fiction and in the middle of a conversation the screen cuts to a tree for like 10 minutes. I can't really explain how jarring that ending was. Damn them.
