YAY!!! You never disappoint, Arigatomyna.

Nice pics...isn't the Yue/Yuki one from the artbook? Wish I'd brought it to MA with me.

I'm not really sure since I haven't seen any CCS artbooks. But the manga books have these little hard-back cards of each of the characters, those look like the ones for Yue and Yukito. I'd have to get out my manga and check to know for sure, but the borders are similar.

Comparing Yue and Nakuru (the 'it' Eriol makes to replace Yue), I think Nakuru is *much* more female looking. Yue just has the broad shoulders despite his pretty (aka effeminate) face. Of course, it could be the skirt Nakuru wears...remember that Nakuru's body is the same in both forms. >.> But I think it's the rounded eyes versus Yue's 'pretty but dangerous' narrow eyes.

How To Know

Post by HeavyMetal » Mon Jul 12, 2004 12:48 am

Very observant Arigatomyna.

Those are some of the typical traits.

For the heck of it here are some common ways to tell feminine male characters from feminine female characters.

(This provided that the artist and the story aren't going for out right gender bending like Ranma or I, My, Me Strawberry Eggs.)

(Even something like Utena often follows these guide lines. Shoujo and Shounen are drawn in about the same in style. Especially since a lot of the artist drawing them are female.)

Feminine Male Characters:

Narrow Rectangular Eyes
Smaller Pupils
Long but not elaborate hair
Long but thin and triangular eyebrows
Greater Height
Increased Shoulder Width
Flat Chest (No slight corners to the clothing extending horizontally at the right height.)
Subdued and sometimes unemotional expression (especially in the mouth, but often the eyes too.)
No Fingernails
Slender but still larger nose than females
Posture (Subtle but huge factor)

Female Characters:

Rounded Eyes
Large Pupils (Full of light and lots of contrast)
Long and Elaborate Hair
Rounded Eyebrows (Can be thin too.)
Shorter Height
Small Shoulders
If Flat Chested (Slight triangularity in the clothes out to the sides at the chest)
Expressions (Large watery eyes and happy mouths)
Fingernails
Tiny Noses (Most of the time just a little angular mark like 2 sides of a triangle)
Posture (Hand gestures, walking, never having one hand in a pocket or coat like James Bond, mannerisms, etc.)

I don't know if what i'm posting here has something to do with this topic but here goes. I noticed that there are a lot of guys who look like girls and can easily deceive the viewers. Example, ed from cowboy bebop, or shenlong from e's otherwise (which i thought he was a she til midway of th series).
Heavy metal's observation was correct, and it also enlighted me a little on this matter. 10x

Gray hair from age is caused by air entering the hair follicle.

Those who have it naturally tend to either have a stark white, slight blond, or silver. The silver won't have the blue trace of aged hair.

Haven't seen anything from FFXII yet. I slacked off after 8. Six and Seven just set such a high bar when it comes to story. I heard a rumor a remake of Seven is coming out, but it was just a rumor. (Maybe this time they won't cut stuff out of the Western release.)

Anyway I wonder who would be the absolute most 'girly guy'?

Probably somebody by CLAMP, but I am drawing a blank on this one.
Lol!

Damn, man.. My hair used to be nearly white IRL, but it's darkened to a dirty-blonde color by now..

And yeah, I heard FFVII-2 is coming out in a long time..

Does anyone else think Ramza is kind of feminine? You never actually get to see whether he has a love interest or not, so he could be any sexuality at all..

I always thought Nakuru was female...she was a girl at Touya's school in any case. Since she was made to sort of counter Yue, though, it makes sense that she was more feminine while he was more masculine. I believe those images are from the first CCS artbook, since they mention that many of the images included were the backs and fronts of each book. There was a night and day pic for each character.

Yue! ::happy sigh::

Heh, he/she/it *dressed* as a girl in Touya's school. I'm pretty sure Touya (if not others) realized 'she' wasn't just a flat-chested female. You can't have someone hang all over your back without realizing there aren't any soft lumps there. ;p He just didn't say any more to Nakuru than he said to Yukito - he's close-mouthed like that.

If you've seen the Japanese version, Spinel asks Nakuru why s/he wears a dress instead of dressing like he should (implying that s/he should be dressing as a guy) and Nakuru says "I'm not human, what does it matter what I wear? Besides, I look cute in this."

So we know s/he is *not* female despite the skirts. We just don't know if that means s/he is male, or if it's a non-sexed magical creature. All we can go by is that according to Spinel, Nakuru should have been dressing in male clothing.

Hmm I remember that! If I recall correctly, Nakuru also enjoyed trying to make Yukito jealous and putting Touya in some awkward circumstances. Unless I'm mixing CCS with something else, Nakuru used her female to guise to flirt in ways that Yukito couldn't ^^;;

I remember the thing about Suppi and Nakuru...I read it in the manga, though. Did the mutilated Cardcaptors anime get that far along?

Coulda sworn Nakuru had a chest, though.

Her shirt had some lines, but when she stands up straight back at the house with Eriol (still in her 'human girl' guise) you can see it's flat as a board - also when she's playing basketball and Touya and Yuki are looking out the window at her. But even if she did stuff a bra, Touya would have noticed the difference the first time she jumped on his back (in the first episode she's in). ^_^;; Nakuru was all over him from the very beginning. Gotta love poor Touya's facial expressions. ;p

And yeah, Moonlight, she was doing her darndest to make Yukito jealous - but it didn't work half the time. He's so dense, cute...but dense. ^_^;
