No insulting Batman the Animated Series either. Not the newer ones for those that don't know.

anyway, I fill anime is still moving slow. It has been 20 or so years and it is in more places but still not widespread and still well hated. I'm still pissed that appleseed won't be played anywhere near me. And I live near DC.

well in defense, and mods can delete this is it's totally wrong, but that new series, "The Batman" does indeed suck. but don't go after "Batman Beyond"

Oh, It's proabably a good thing, but I feel it will work out the same way video games did. At least from what I remember, And correct me if I am worng, but back in the day of snes and genesis there was no ESBR, and there and even when that came into the gaming world it really was not enforced until like two years ago, no one stopped me from play video games that said M on them even though it was enforced more so when I was 17. Any way, the next part was that a lot of the political and and religous morons started using games as a scape goat. I remember on CSPAN, which I was waching for some odd reason. One of the people talking was just going off on how much video games influence violence and boy I thought of so many counter arguments. Same thing happened when I went to temple a long time ago, I hardly go any more, but the rabbi there got me pissed off because he was going off on how video games are evil. Any, but now it has calmed down, and I feel that anime will go the same only slower.

Once something really big happens and is uncencored on TV, for the video game world it was Mortal Kombat a great game. Any way once that happens a lot of people will get in anime eve more so, and the evil soccer moms will say its evil, and then people will fight over it and political leaders and religious leaders will us it as a scape goat, until finally a compromise is reached, and the people at the stores that sell anime will have to start checking ID. Everthing will calm down, and ther ewill still be little out breaks but more or less the constitustion will win, and all will be well. So, in that sence its a good thing, even though there will be little dark spots here and there over all will win.

The main thing I am worried about is the second people, mostly in america probably not to say it does not happen in japan, will relize, that they can make money off of anime, and there will be mass productions of thousands of anime titles that make DBZ look like it has the greats plot in the world. The popular something is the more shit you'll encounter.

Good, in that it's becoming more widespread and easy to find. I was frankly astonished to see how much translated manga is on bookstore shelves these days.

Bad, very bad in that it will lead to more ugly knock-off art being used by American advertisers in an attempt to tap the demographic and downright horrifying if Hollywood realizes that cartoons aren't just for kids, thus allowing them to get their tentacles in and begin turning anime into the same vapid crap that most live-action films are these days.

Oh wait, a lot of anime is already like that.

Good: As in other cultures are being exposed to other audiences, the mature handling of certain dubs also show that the shows sometimes DO get a great treatment

Bad: Every anime imported and dubbed for a VERY low target audience sucks donkey, ruins the legitmacy of the original anime, and continues to make the mainstream consumer all Japan are good at are making repetetitive shows like "DBZ", none of which is true, but that's the fault of certain corporations and dubbing comapanies.

American cartoons are not "stupid" either, as evident when Americans could be bothered ANIMATING shows, in fact, I cosnider Justice Leauge Unlimited and Ninja Turtles superior to every crappy anime currently infesting my screens in the afternoon, there well written, dark, and mature, yeah "The Batman" is garbage, but hey, it's miles better than "One Peice...of Crap" (the dub, not the original)

I only watch the ADV Anime releases, as well as my old Manga VHS tapes, given THEY are somewhat true to the source material in the dubbing, AND some of them carry the original Japanease versions.

I will be glad to see the day mainstream anime finally DIES, and America can still making REAL cartoons instead on importing and reducing Japan's classics and current classics to insepid JUNK with no intellgience or merit to them at all.
American and Anime shows can be amazing...and they can suck in equal measure, neither is superior to the other.
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS THE PERFECT CARTOON, OR THE PERFECT ANIME, BOTH HAVE POSITVES AND NEGATIVES.

Well I know this is a bit of a horror story, but I just thought you guys should know: About a year ago when I was in computer class, I heard a coulple of prepy cheerleaders talking about a show they liked to watch. when I asked them what they were talking about, they simply replied, "We're not telling you because we don't want too many people liking it." So I just simply began listeing closely hoping that I might here something that would give it away. Now I completely forgot about this over the summer but when school got back in a cheerleader came up to me, (the only cool cheerleader who deserves to be watching anime) and told me that a few other cheerleaders liked watching...............................
INUYASHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH. I still have nightmares. Now I know you can't exactly assume that theywere talking about the same show but she told me their names and I connected it if from there. I wasn't a big Inuyasha fan back then so when I thought back on their conversation a year ago I realized a lot of key things that would have allowed me to figure out what they were talking about.
So really, I don't think that anime taking over is a bad thing but I just don't want to see it become mainstream. Funny thing, though. Once I confronted said cheerleders they stopped taliking about it ever since. I hope they've stopped watching it too. I kind of feel special for doing something for the good of the world.

Yes I think anime is a very good thing. No offense to anyone but I think that Japanese Anime is much better then American Cartoons. (Once again no offense!)
