Trigun on Adult Swim

Post by He Thor01 » Tue Mar 25, 2003 12:53 pm

Well campers its official, Trigun will be premiering on Adult Swim starting March 31st. at midnight. Mostly I just want some opinions on the subject; so far it seems to be the only really good modern anime that Cartoon Network has acquired since Cowboy Bebop. My feeling is that this is a good step for Anime overall but I am still scared that this will be a repeat of our expectations for EVA and Nadesico, where promises of "no edits" lead to "Badly Butchered" . Personally I will be happy with this if the "cut and paste" is kept to a minimum, otherwise this could be another reason for us not to trust American Television with our favorite art form.

If the network can keep the chopping of the anime to a minimum, then i'm all for it cause Trigun is an awesome series. Hell, that's where i got my namesake from. {Cain The Longshot of the Gung-ho Guns} ^_^

Remember, too, that Eva was editted for Toonami, which is on earlier in the day and has a different set of restrictions for what it can and can't air. Adult Swim can get away with more leninent edits because it is on later and gives plenty of parental guidance warnings besides. Remember, Bebop aired almost uneditted save for a few airbrushes and croppings to deal with nudity and the more graphic bloodsprays.

Trigun doesn't really have much that needs editting if you are talking about Adult Swim. It should be fine.

I plan to watch it to see the edit job, out of morbid curiousity. But, I own the damn thing on DVD, so I can really watch it whenever I want and as much as I want.

Not to brag, of course... ::glows::

I think Trigun could work on Adult Swim since the show isn't that violent and the editing will be kept to a minimum.

I also personally think they should've watched both shows (other being Kenshin) before putting one on Toonami. Kenshin is much more violent and dark than Trigun and yet it's the one on Toonami. I think both should be on Kenshin and find it humorous that they haven't really watched the show and realize what is coming in the Kyoto Arc (about 5x darker than Trigun). I will laugh at these edits where they cut half an episode out (Saitoh's ENTIRE fight) or worse...the whole episode (Shishio fight, Soujirou's past, Anji's past, etc, etc.).

Cartoon Network, I laugh at you. Wait..that means good anime is being butchered

That's nothing, really. Back home, when Dragonball/Z/GT was nearing the end of it's run, the execs of the station must've said: "We need another of those Japanese Cartoons to fill the void left by the loudmouths with the spiky hair. Fetch me another one, and air it at 2:30pm, when all the little children just got home from school! Boy I'm smart!!"
Imagine my surprise when after school I turn on the tv to find...

Evangelion.
Unedited too, as far as I could tell. The show ran for three episodes, then dissapeared mysteriously. No explanation, nothing. Just gone.
I like bugging people. Deal with it.

Yes I most definitely agree with the fact that since Trigun will be on Adult Swim there will probably be less to edit, "It should go well". But I am concerned since I was anal enough to pick out every last edit in the two EVA episodes they aired, they seemed to have a pretty full list at Anime News Network, here's the link http://animenewsnetwork.com/columns/edit-list.php have fun.

Whoops, knew I forgot something. Evangelion and Nadesico were on Cartoon Network due to a deal made with ADV, it allowed Cartoon Network to expand their anime market for their much emphasized “Giant Robot Week” by previewing the first few episodes of just a few shows. There was never any intention to play the whole series :x . But I now think that was a good move due to the fact that even with the heaviest of editing if they ever got to episodes 24-26 of EVA it just might fry the brain of the average 10-14 year old DBZ fan  . p.s. He Thor01 is still much happier with no editing.

well, unless theres a sudden rush of conservitive blood rushing through the vein of adult swim the series won't be touched for the majority of the eps, in alot of them there isn't even any fighting, and the earliest edit (unless they edit out gun fights where nobody is shot o_O ) will prolly be like ep 3 or 4 when vash gets drunk, i wanna watch it just to see the dubbed version, i've got the entire thing fansubbed but never saw it dubbed.... i wonder if they did a decent job of matching vash's character with a voice....
