Kenshin The OVA's
It has been quite a while sinse i posted here, but after watching the last 2 ova's of kenshin it reminded me of this place where every body likes anime ass much or even more than me.
Give me you're thoughts on those ova's.
Presonaly i loved them all.. even the episodes. It was all worth it and iff annyone needs a good anime to watch that has everithing then they should watch Kenshin. To me it is sommething exepitional... it's rare that an anime makes me cry no matter how good it is but kenshin is just amasing.
Peace out 8)

Re: Kenshin The OVA's
I hope you've seen the TV series because I find them even more exceptional than the OVAs.

RE:Kenshin OAV'S
I'm in the middle of watching Kenshin from the beginning. I started watching the OAV's(the frist four) and then went to the TV series. And so far i think both are well done. I don't prefer one over the other. I like them both....I"ve also spoiled myself and watched the last two OAV's and if fits right in with the TV series as well. Even though it was extreamly sad. When it comes to the style, Both suit very well. More series shows, require more serious drawing. ^_^

I prefer the oavs of the series due to the fact that in the oavs they didn't have a tone of bullshit flashy moves. Its amazing how flashy Kenshin's moves become in the ten years he was wandering. Like so many other things it seems that they have to VOICE activate their moves.

Re: RE:Kenshin OAV'S
Dang that really sucks for you. I would've suggesting watch the TV series (Up through the Kyoto arc (62)) and then watching the first OVA, the movie and then the last OVA. That is the chronological order in accordance with the manga.Mukuro wrote:I'm in the middle of watching Kenshin from the beginning. I also think it helps in the enjoyment since the entire TV series you wonder what act he committed that was SO awful. Oh and also his scars. After all that build-up, you finally see why and I find it very satisfying. Also, there are things in the OVA that won't make sense, like the importance of Saitoh, without knowledge from the TV series.
And since I know someone will say the first OVA takes place 10 years before the show, like I said...in the manga. In the manga, the first OVA is a flashback where he tells his friends his past. This is obviously an indicator as to where the manga (and TV series would've) is going with the Revenge Arc (not on TV).
I can see this leading to even MORE people PM me for details on the Kenshin Manga. Thank God I have saved the 5 or so messages I have sent about it...esp since it's a LENGTHY explanation .

Well I do see your point and do find it humorous they say their moves outloud (ala SailorMoon), but I really like long epic stories, so the TV series (in it's 50 or so manga episodes) is more to my liking. It had a larger story, more characters (also more development) and so on.MAS PRODUCTIONS wrote:I prefer the oavs of the series due to the fact that in the oavs they didn't have a tone of bullshit flashy moves. Then again...I guess I can't really say I like over the other since I see all of them as one big story (excluding the last OVA since it's not in the manga). That's b/c the Manga Rurouni Kenshin covers the whole thing. I guess I'm copping out though .

I've got the last Kenshin manga somewhere (original Japanese, no less :P) and I've seen Seisouhen, and I have to say, I think that although the manga is generally better for plot stuff, I think the Year of Frost ending is better. The emotions of the end scene are raw and powerful; the manga end is also very nice but not *quite* as good.

I have yet to watch it since I (was) awaiting the DVD release (want to see it right). I will watch it probably this evening since it is out. I do however know of the ending and it does sound touching and quite romantic, but I guess I'm a purist since I hate it when they change things from the original manga (esp. something THIS different). I liked how the Kenshin Manga ended since it was open ended:Savia wrote:I've got the last Kenshin manga somewhere (original Japanese, no less ) and I've seen Seisouhen, and I have to say, I think that although the manga is generally better for plot stuff, I think the Year of Frost ending is better. I like how Kenshin gives Yahiko his reverse blade and the end is just Kaoru and Kenshin (with their child...a baby...not like 11 y/o) just watching as he runs off. It leaves a sense of completeness, but at the same time...a feeling that things will continue and be happy (i.e. Yahiko will become like Kenshin).
