Who understood the Ending of End of Evangelion? [SPOILERS]

I TOTALLY didn't understand the ending very much... Like how Asuka was killed by the Evas, THEN she was strangled by Shinji, OR at the end when she was with Shiji... She sais "how disgusting" Then, it was over!! Can ANYONE explain this part, or ANYTHING else from thr movie?? Thanks!

I don't think Auska was killed. Just her Eva. I don't know the whole symbolism thing, but I think that since she was in the capsule, she survived the third impact.....Shinji had strangled her once before but I don't know why he did it the second(I guess he really didn't like her).
I guess she said "how disgusting" because Shinji was crying like a baby.(Again, forgive me for my lack of symbolism if any)

I understood it first time around.... She didn't die, she probably got damn close though. As for the strangling, ummmm he just went through hell and back, its hard to assume that he would just hug her and say "Im so glad to see you!".

Many people interperate the ending in many ways:

1. Auska and shinji were spairred to become the new Adam and Eve
2. They both survived because they were just lucky

I dont care either way. It was a pretty good movie and kept me entertained for awhile.

didn't he strangle her about 3/4 of the way through the movie as well? because she (in his mind i suppose) refused to love him or somthing like that, so he went crazy and tried to kill her. if i remember correctly.

yeah thats why she was in the hospital at the begining of the movie as i understand it.

I think shinji strangles her at the end because she symbolizes the fact that they are the start of the human race again and it makes them both upset about it.

So to deal with it, shinji chokes
and Asuka says: "I feel Sick"
