What's the anime magazine to get?
I'm looking for an anime magazine to subscribe to, but now there are two of them (animerica and newtype). And of course in the stores all of them are wrapped so I can't see for myself.
So I was leaning more towards NewType, but I heard from some people that Animerica was good too. So which one do you think I should get?...also if you could list why I'd appreciate it.
Thanks all.

Well...Animerica is decent...but they've fallen a lot in recent years, mainly due to the fact that I can usually get the info they provide just as easily from the web.
NewType is a bit more "cutting edge" in terms of discussion of new anime just getting released in Japan. However, it's layout sucks. I know they were trying to preserve the layout present in the Japanese edition, but it doesn't make the mag fun for browsing.
There is also the cost thing. Animerca is cheaper than NewType by quite a bit, but a subscription to either is still over $50...a bit much in my opinion. But then, I'd rather spend money for a year's subscription to Newsweek.

Well, its a decision between small crappy mag with shite reviews, and crappy poster, or a magazine twice the size with dvd, postcard, centrefold and poster....hmm, let me think......(im sure anyone with half a braincell can work out witch ones newtype and witch one animerica)

I suggest the japanese version of Shonen Jump, that is of course if you can read japanese, but then again if you could read japanese I would suggest Japan's Newtype.

Eep....looked at NewType's subscription page and its $90 a year!!! I mean, that's 7.50 an issue!!! Sure there are all those goodies in it, but still....that's a whole mess for just a magazine.
Maybe I'll ask for it for my birthday, if I'm lucky....yeesh. Maybe I'll wait for them to get a little more popular or something...
And are there any more anime magazines out there (worth mentioning of course)?

Animerica is politcally correct filth! what kind of anime magazine trys to impose america pc values on japanese shows???? They complain about fanservice and have some kind of warning system that warns people about breasts but not crossdressers. They dared lump lina inverse as a magical girl as if she was just another sailor moon show!. Ack that magazine makes me sick they bash the good anime. review the same crap that has been out even in the us for years. I say buy Newtype at least you get your moneys worth.
