Yeah this pics have been posted before in the most recent eva topics in this section of the forum.
As for the pics themselves, the designs and such actually makes the movie more promising than one would thing, the mech designs look loyal to the anime designs..and Asuka's plug suit (boioioioioioioioioioing) looks hawt. Rumor has it that Tokyo 3 is gonna be changed to San Fransisco 3 (but the source is from a friend of Black Monarch ) and people seem to thing it's the end of the world already. Changing the city isn't going to do didly squat to the movie, the fact that it's based in the future gives it all the flexibility it needs to allow this and not in any way would it destroy the movie.
Frankly I'm quite glad this movie is being make and am looking forward to it. Just because it's a live action remake of an anime title doesn't mean it'll bomb like it's predicesors. Remember all them movie adaptations of comic books..remember how many of them suck really bad..but there are quite a few that actually broke the cycle and made it big. As long has you get a director thats actually dedicated enough to the origional, you shouldn't worry too much about a movie sucking (completely).
If my hopes come true, this movie will break the chain of bad live action remakes and hopefully continue the further recognition of anime in the U.S. media.
When you get a movie adaptation, your always gonna end up with changes. Look at the LotR movies, there were changes made contrary to the book, but that didn't make the movies at all bad, just made some Tolken buffs get all bitchy.
So don't turn your nose at this movie yet...though the news that the DBZ live action movie being true has left me rather scared. I just hope the Eva movie gets out before DBZ...cause the DBZ fandom will most likely flood the boxoffice when it's released, god help us all.

Plus, Tokyo was flooded because of the pole(s) melting. The flooding wouldn't be just be a Japan-only event.Jebadia wrote: Rumor has it that Tokyo 3 is gonna be changed to San Fransisco 3 (but the source is from a friend of Black Monarch ) and people seem to thing it's the end of the world already. Anyhow, the art looks promising, at least, so that's a plus.

Also, I dont think that this particular page is related to Live action Eva. First thing, the live action movie is supposed to be American made, the japanese wouldn't have anymore info than us. Also the words "re" and "dvd" appear in this page, which lead me to believe that this article talks about an animation sequel or possible oav. If this is in fact a japanese movie then we will have to see how it turns out, but Im still doubtful.

I see the letters "ADV" (although printed sideways, for some reason... ).
I also found this bit about July's issue on the English Newtype website, regarding the live action movie.
So I suspect it's likely about the live action movie.
I wonder if the July Newtype is out yet...
And god forbid if it is called "EVA Lives!". Thankfully, I think that's just Newtype...

http://animefannews.tripod.com/ wrote:ADV FILMS ANNOUNCES LIVE-ACTION THEATRICAL VERSION OF JAPANESE ANIMATED TITLE "NEON GENESIS EVANGELION;" VISUAL EFFECTS BY "LORD OF THE RINGS" STUDIO WETA WORKSHOP LTD.
THE MOST INFLUENTIAL JAPANESE ANIMATED SERIES IN MODERN TIMES TO COME TO LIFE AS A FEATURE FILM
CANNES, FRANCE, 19 May 2003-In an announcement sure to make waves in the entertainment industry, ADV Films President and CEO John Ledford today publicly confirmed industry rumors that the firm has acquired the rights to produce, and has already begun development of, a live-action feature-film based on the Japanese animated television series "Neon Genesis Evangelion," a multi-million dollar worldwide franchise and perhaps the most influential anime title in the history of the art form. The project is a collaboration between ADV Films, Gainax and Weta Workshop, Ltd.
The Participants
ADV Films is the leading producer-distributor of Japanese animation in North America. The Japanese anime and game studio Gainax Network Systems was one of the original production studios responsible for "Neon Genesis Evangelion," and Weta Workshop, Ltd. is the New Zealand-based special effects studio that created the effects for Peter Jackson's "Lord of the Rings" trilogy.
"The three main players here represent something of a 'dream-team' for a project like this one," said Ledford. "Between the quality and significance of the Gainax title, Weta's industry-leading skill in the creation of special visual effects, and our expertise in the marketing and promotion of anime and anime-related content, this project is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."
The Story
"Neon Genesis Evangelion" is the story of a reluctant young hero, called upon to pilot an immense robotic weapon in battle against alien invaders. Including both a 26-episode television series and at least two animated motion pictures, "Neon Genesis Evangelion" has long been both a fan favorite and an extraordinary critical and commercial success, with the worldwide franchise producing many millions of dollars in revenue.
Timetable
The "Neon Genesis Evangelion" live-action motion picture is in the earliest stages of development. Ledford confirmed, however, that the timetable is an aggressive one, and that more information on the project is forthcoming.

That Japanese webpage might actually have to do with the upcoming digitally restored and altered form of "Evangelion" coming out for it's 10th anniversary. I've heard it will have some serious CGI stuff (hopefully far superior to 'Pilot Candidate', and 'Zoids').
I really just hope the upcoming live-action version doesn't ditch the whole philosophical edge in hopes of not offending the frosted flakes (white Christians). The last thing I want is for those goddamn Christians to mock some good anime (if you can't tell already, I'm kind of prejudice against Christians).

Im hoping that they try to create a whole new storyline with new characters and plot. It would be kinda cool if based on Eva but not cool if its a copy of Eva. In all reality I could not see how they could make this a movie without doing this. The series is too long to scruntch into just one movie. Besides it couldn't really add to the storyline at all. Eva is one of those series that was open ended. I guess I would have to see it to really pass judgement but Im really skeptical about this whole transform animes into movie done by americans thing.
