DBZ how could it be?

Post by Justin_topia » Thu Aug 07, 2003 3:09 am

How could there be such a fan base for dbz?
Im really not trying to be an ass but i see no appeal at ALL. They are constipated monkeys who shoot energy balls. I know that a few of the chars are appealing to some, But why does it take multiple weeks to complete a single battle. I Ask you dbz fans this not as a poke or prod but as an honest question.

DBZ how could this be?

I can tell from your post that you're not trying to be offensive...extra points for that...however, this thread cannot possibly lead in a good direction...dbz is one of those things that you watch and you either like or don't like...there's no specific reason=/...I myself am a big fan of dbz...and would watch every episode from beggining to end even the gt saga without hesitation....yet I'd never be able to tell you why....so....lets call it a night .....and have a sex party...then everyone can be a happy camper

Half the fans of DBZ are actualy fans, the other half havnt seen any other anime. Adleast thats my opionion. DBZ is easily obtained thru CN and thats probly why most people watch and like it. I liked it at one point, then i saw trigun and rk and they left it in the dust. So meh who knows

I like what you said about dbz being the only anime at the ready. This could be the missing link I have been looking for. Eureka I think we found out why!!!!
all the silly shoufus whom are doomed to anime free world would of coarse cling to dbz as their life vest of anime goodness.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!

Most people like it because they really dont need to think as they watch it. DBZ has no complicated storylines and is accompanied by flashy lights and pointless action. For the most part I could stand up to freeza saga. More than likely this is because it was created from the original story, but after that saga its pure crap. The sad thing is DBZ has been around for some time now, I remember when it first came out in 93-94-ish, on FOX. Everyone hated it. The only reason why its popular now is because of proper timing and CN knowing who is watching their channel. They know that the show wil appeal to 12-14 year old boys, so they put it on almost right after school and advertise it so that the predicted crowd will show up.

There are some people who seem to stick by it as an anime even in their older years but most of them grow out of it. Now adays most people start into anime because of DBZ, which isn't bad, as long as they realize that there are a HUGE variety of anime out there. I myself got started by Ronin Warriors back in 92, well that and Voltron, but thats questionable. I agree with the post somewhere above that some people like it and some dont. I am one the is in between somewhere, I dont hate the anime (mostly because I dont expect much out of it) but I dont like it for what it is. Mostly I hate that DBZ has come to define what anime is in general to those who haven't seen much anime.

I sorta like DB and DBZ because they were some of the first animes i've seen, so ti's kinda a nostalgia thing, well at least DB was. Plus when i was a kid i always wished that i could have become powerful like some of the characters.

Bah! I still haven't given up the dream. Someday I'll figure out how to defy the laws of physics... you just wait and see.

Actually, as a semi-fan of DB/DBZ, it's not the series I like, but a few certain episodes. And yeah, there is the nastalgia factor.

ok ill admit it i used to love dbz, now I dont as much after seeing so much more anime, but I still admit it that I like dbz, reason being is in my opinion it is creative in the action it provides. in responce to your comment "They are constipated monkeys who shoot energy balls" anime isnt that real sometimes, actually a lot of the time it is to far from even being close to reality, which makes it entertaining. So that comment basically could be said for a lot of other anime that people watch and bash dbz over. Dbz isnt the best plot anime , I will give you that, but really, most action movies and such arnt. and it did have some interesting storys, my favorite is majin vegeta, that actually showed some sort of story of the hate he had built up. Anyway overall, the reason I like dbz is its very creative and interesting to watch the action, ya know sometimes the story can be ok, but mainly its the creative action I enjoy. 8)
