So I heard about this new series, RahXephon? Did a little digging around, and it seems like another Evangelion copy-off. Like guy (Shinji) who has to save the world in a robot (Eva 01) from evil alien things (Angels). He has a back up person to help him (Misato...YAY! MISATO!), and is torn between two girls (Rei and Asuka...YAY! ASUKA!!!). And all that good stuff. SOOOO, my only question now is...Is RahXephon really just another anime that's gonna go downhill cuz it's copying one of the coolest anime series around? Or is it totally different and absolutely nothing like Eva?

By your logic I should never watch Eva because it's an obvious rip off of Robotech/Macross.

Just because things have similar elements does not make one a rip-off of the other.

I may be wrong in this case as I've not seen either Evangelion nor RahXephon.

There is a difference between a Mecha show and a Giant Robot show, btw.

The point is still valid though, although the examples aren't very good choices.

yeah eva was a huge inspiration for rahxephon...but rahxephons creators did a better job imo

Personally I prefer RahXephon over Eva. Ayato isn't such a wimp. Haruka isn't such a cradle snatcher. And there's two rei characters for the price of one (Quon and yellow dress girl who's name escapes me(reika?). The Asuka look a like isn't such a brat. Plus there is more of an explanation behind the "angel-like" monsters thing.

lol, seems i'm outnumbered then. i just thought that eva would be better. oh and nurd, that wasn't a good explanation. i did it like...3 seconds before i had to run to marching band camp.

gahh...i dunno, i just think that the originals are better...somehow...

People who say it is a Eva ripp off should all die horrible and painful deaths... No but seriously, Rahxephon is really awsome show Viva, and here are the reasons why it its't a ripp:

Ayato is a painter, and can actually talk to girls.
Rahxephon is more about sound.
Ayato has two versions of himself.
His "Mech" if even, comes form an egg
Ayato has a brother.
Ayato's mother is the one at first that seems alot like she knows it all but there are others that know more.
The people that live in "Tokyo Jupiter" think that there is no other people outside of Japan.
There are only two true tuners of the world. (Ayato and Quon)
There is actually and ending that most people can understand.
When they say rebirth in Rahxepon, they actaually mean it.

Rahxephon is a butiful anime, with a sound track that is out of this world. You can't rely on first assumtions in Rahxepon....

RahXephon is not an eva rip off. Mind you, it dose draw from it, it's not a rip off. Watch it and you;ll see that the two shows are very different. the fact that it's two boys who don't like fighting pioloting these massive super powerful "robots" dose not mean that they're exactaly the same.

They are kinda similiar with the robot freaky shit type of thing.
I wouldn't say a rip off because RahXephon had tons of weird different shit.

I thouroughly enjoyed it and wouldn't recomend overlooking it because it bares some similiarities to Eva.
