What's the best English dubbed anime you've seen?

Post by angelx03 » Tue Sep 30, 2003 11:44 pm

Just to note, I don't want people coming here saying subbed anime is better. I understand that, but there has to be SOME anime series which the dubbing is very good. For example (and I know most of you will say this) Cowboy Bebop.

ANYTHING that Dave Lucas did the VA for. This DOES include CB but thats only one of VERY many shows he's done the dub for. If somehow somebody doesnt know who Dave Lucas is then he is the dude who voiced Spike in CB obviously...he's done WAY more but some of my favorites of his are CB and GTO...If you wanna know all the shows he's done look it up --; Oh and Crispin Freeman isnt too bad either, he did one of the main character dudes (I forgot how to spell his name) in Boogiepop Phantom and did alot of voices for other shows as well. I think he did Alucards voice in Hellsing but ive yet to see it dubbed. but yeah, i watch anime dubbed and subbed so pretty much any anime ive seen (thats released here anyway) is a dub i like --; well cept Excel Saga....god that was the most horrible dub ever --; But yeah, i'd list all the shows i like dubbed but it'd be pretty long, though i like alot of them subbed as well. But like i said...or didnt, i'll watch PRACTICALLY any show subbed or dubbed without caring as long as it doesnt have Dave Lucas/Steve Blum (same guy) doing the VA...and as long as its not ES --;

ones I've liked (meaning I didn't make fun of at anyone's voice)

Akira the first release
Ghost in a Shell
8man After
Street Fighter the series

one of the best although it probably was originally intended to be this way is Blood.

Hey,

Not sure on my favorite, I did think all the voices fit pretty well in El Hazard and Martian Successor Nadesico.

I also really really like the Tenchi Muyo dubs that were on Toonami. I thought most of the voices were very well done and IMHO fit the personality of the characters.

Heh, I'm not alone. I don't see why people liked the Bebop dub. I think the voices were semi-ok, but the voice acting wasn't nearly as good as the original Jap. I was really disapointed in the way the english actor for Spike said "I could return tose words to you," or something like that, in the last episode. It was just so bland and monotone.

The dubs I've liked would include Eva, Gundam Wing, and N&T,H&T (I've not seen the Japanese version of this one yet).
