Who's Better Kenshin or Shishio in the Bakumatsu?
I personally think that kenshin could cut shishio up and beat him. The reason it was so hard for kenshin to beat shishio in kyoto was because he was already exausted. And shishio was getting stronger by the second from the heat. Kenshin also used a sakabatou which can't cut.

Well the truth is Shishio probably would have still won the fight. Think for a minute if Kenshin didn't use a reverse blade. That would change the whole meaning of the series. He wouldn't have made any friends, Soujiro wouldn't have gone insane. Hell so many things would have been different. If he didn't have the reverse blade, he never would have been there in the first place. Thats one thing I hate about questions about who would win, they say "But what if he had a normal sword?" they never think about what would be different due to the fact that he would use a normal sword.

Kenshin vs. Shishio
Maybe we should also think about the fact that even if Shishio, despite his good taste in women, didn't burst into flame...his brain was still fried at about 108. Seeing as how before he flared up his blood was steaming and therefore at least 212 degrees: Kenshin had already won. I must admit though, Shishio wasn't a pansy like kenshin. I mean, you could sit there insulting him and throwing stuff at him and he would still just smile there. Even if you hit him with a mallet he'd fall over and go duaahhhh. When he got up he'd say "That wasn't very nice, that it wasn't."
Saito's the coolest anyway...maybe what's his name, Kenshin's master...
