Saddest anime youve ever seen?

Well.....just post what it would be....i bought the now and then here and there box set.....saturday........and i just finished....i declare it with my saddest anime of all time award...

This kid shu.... meets this girl on top of these towers...and they watch the sunset together. out of no where these giant robots come out and take the girl and shu goes to.....and to his surprise he is thrust in to another worl. or world of war, death, poverty, madness. a tyrant named hamdo (crazy bastard) is in charge of a floating tower type thing. Hes like, litterally crazy, and he lusts for power and fame. helly wood is the name of the tower. he has an army, of children brought to this world also, all from different locations around the world, there forced to do dirty tasks, like kill harmless peasants if they wont joiun the army to help hamdo take over the world, kids are starved, beat, tortured, forced to murder, the girls are raped to help make more people for the army. shu doesnt like this, so he decides to stop it. ill leave the rest to you to find out.....all i have to say is:

Watch it.

13 eps...if you get the box set i did...itll have a nifty 4th extra dvd bonus disc.....has some behind the scenes footage....and be prepared....this is extreamely sad IMO

just started watching it, but havent got past the third episode yet.... got to uni and found there was far too many things to watch

but its kinda cool, animation isnt bad....... but im not suprosed by a sad ending........... its got that kinda feel

the ending is semi sad......youll just find out...i wanna spoil it so bad...but people get mad at me for doing that....i do know hamdo is in for a suprise from shu...oh boy is he ever.......

i think samuri x is pretty sad. and i hear that grave of the fire flys is really really sad. ill have to check it out one day. i saw part like 10 min but i want to see the whole thing. but from what iv heard about the story and the characters it seems really sad

i think gunbuster has a sad ending........ just when they get to earth.. and no one left a light on...........

Or Trigun, that had some seriously sad moments (thinks of wolfwood and legato)

yes....grave of the fire flies is one of the saddest movies of all time....im sure you can picture how it ends...but whatever.....i have that movie....*tears*
