How does anime make you feel?

Post by J-0080 » Sun Dec 21, 2003 10:31 pm

Have you ever cryed as a character died, or felt anger rising as a particulary hated villain came unto the screen. I'm quite sure that, at one time, during one show, we've all felt something (some stronger than others).

So for one series or movie, please respond as to what feelings you felt while watching (mainly those that were most dominant through said watching). If referencing to a certain scene or event please use spoiler tags for those who might not of seen it.

Also, please avoid one word responses like "good" or "sad".

Sad, anger, joy, laughter, I feel it all. Whichever anime I watch, I feel something. I guess I'm emotional.

Hmm....I'm a natural emotional person....I cry at nearly anything...even when evil dudes are killed....and laugh etc. Though I do that with anything, not just anime.

I guess one example of me crying my eyes out would be:

Here are a couple of animes that i had teary eyes if not, i felt really sad for the people or i felt how they felt

Spoilers:

Love Hina (tv-series)

In one of the episodes of this series ... when keitaro wanted to tell Naru how he felt for her but he could because he was too shy to, o things just would turn out right for him ... i felt his frustration as a guy...
...
Another time was when keitaro finally told Naru how he felt and she just walked away and she just kept avoiding him ... i was like soo sad for keitaro that he was sort of regected for a while... he must of felt soo bad for opening his mouth and not getting anything bad from Naru ...
...
Another time that made me sad was when Naru found keitaro and Mitsumi in the bath room and she told them it was meant for them to be together and then ran off ... then keitaro runs after her and she kisses him and then wishes them luck ... oh that touched my heart and i felt their pain ...
...
On the bright side, when Naru finally told Keitaro how she feels for him and then kisses him, and then hey go off with Sata and everyone is chasing them...... that was one happy moment ... :)
...
(Manga)
When keitaro and Naru got married ... Oh the joy of those two ... :)
Cowboy Bebop (tv-series)

When Faye, and Ed left Spike and Jet ... they left them to find their own place in life ... those types of scene when people leave their friends always make me teary eyed ...
...
When Spike left his friends (Jet and Faye) to fight Vicious ... he was all they really had left ... Spike knew that he was gonna die and he just left his friends ...
Neon Genesis Evagelion (tv-series)

When Kaji left that message of fair-well to Marisato and said that he can now say something that he could before "Fair well" .. oh so sad ...
Ah! My goddess Movie

The scene where Beldandy tells Keichi that she will do everything for him including taking the vaccine that would erase her memories and then keichi said that no matter wat happens during the vaccine that he will wait for beldandy and they all could make new memories if worst comes to worst ... oh the love those two shares ... i get teary eye, not for the sadness but because the movie showed how much love they had for each other ... :)
I think thats all for now ... i dont wanna get all teary eyed thinking about it ..

Usually anime makes me feeling with its emotions; happy, angry, sad, surprised, etc.
But now I remember some of that scene that makes me cry.

"Spoiler"
In “Berserk”:
When Guts find Griffith in very bad situation, and hug him. But Griffith trying to strangle Guts by his hands, but he can’t because he is now very week man.
And also when Griffith remember him self just a child. I feel very sad because he is very proud man and he now feels that his ambition crushed. This scene really makes me cry  and cry  and cry  and cry  ….
In “Dragon Ball Z”:
When Piccolo saves Gohan’s life in the first time, the music was very emotional with the scene.

IMO, Anime is generally very effective when it comes to expressive a character. With voice acting that's 20x better than academy "awards", the rich plot and character development is augmented by intonation and feeling in the audio track - NOT AVAILIBLE IN DUBS!

( one reason why I'm a subbie. NOT a dubbie. )

Kenshin OAVs, definitely. Plus, Escaflowne to an extent.
