Why are the short series' so disliked?
One thing I've noticed about anime fans is that, no matter how good a series is, if it had great
characters or an excellent plot, most fans will feel badly about a series if, to them, it wasn't long
enough. Here are some examples I can think of.
Blood: The Last Vampire. Great action story, slick animation quality and the English accents on
the Japanese was perfect. Only came out with one installment at 45 minutes. I enjoyed it because
it felt like readying a short story. The manga sounds pretty good and I heard that a second
installment might be in the works.
Ninja Cadets. One of the first videos Anime Works released. Nice little series, problem was, it
was never finished. The series left its viewers hanging and it looks like there's no interest in
finishing it at all. The fact that no one wanted to finish it is what ticks me off. Really would have
liked to have seen everything resolved in this one.
FLCL. Really liked this one. I'm glad that no other installments were made, because after the
way it ended, a sequel would have been pointless.
I can't really understand why fans hate a series because of it's length, or lack there of, and nothing
more, and can't enjoy it for what it is. Tell me what you guys think.

Probably too busy to be here right now.

Im guessing that people dont like short animes because they can see those short animes be made longer and this would inturn make the whole story/plot better ... i dont kno .. for me personally i would like to see AMG longer like the manga ... they could have added many things from the manga to the tv-series .. but at times, i like short anime series because u can watch them all in one sitting

For me, FLCL is kind of a paradox. When it ended it seemed like there should be more, but at the same time the ending seemed to be fulfilling.
Basically, as long as they don't screw it up, they can make more, or leave it alone.
For series that didn't quite seem long enough:
Hades project Zeorymer. This had what seemed to be a great story, but they crunched it down in to 4 eps (approx. 2 hours), They could've just made it a movie. But still, and extened version, or a sequel would be nice.
Spirit of Wonder. Yes, I know it has had two dvd releases (one 45min one, and the other has a 2 30 min ep, along with two short eps.) But this is one of those ones that could always use more.
Jungle de Ikou. Ok, I don't care what everyone says about JDI. Beneath the fan-service there is a funny and enjoyable show. To me, it did seem too short, like there could have been more (the last ep REALLY left it open and seemed to tease that there could be more. no fair!)
Hand Maid May. Though weighing in at 11eps, this one too seemed to short. I wish there could be more, and yet there was a Hand maid Mai made, but alas, it was canceled due to bankruptcy and only the first ep got released.
Hellsing. Slightly longer at 13eps, this too suffered from what seemed too short a run. 26eps would work better. Though i have heard rumors that they might do just that and make more eps.
Spriggan. Good movie, but too damn short. Another victim of a condensed story.
Akira. Probably the greatest example of the condensed story into a movie. The manga is such a big story (well over a 1000 pages!) and yet they tried to cram it into a movie of 2 hours. This is one story that could easily fit into the 26ep crowd.
Now, I agree Blood was good, and its short length didn't really bother me.
Also, Ghost in the Shell was satisfying as well.
Also 3X3 Eyes was a good length.
