What the hell!!!!!

For a change ii desided insted to download anime to go and buy it "to help the creators" and loock what happens......

I go to a anime store and ask for kenshin (my fave anime). The guy shows me this realy good box with 4 dvd's...... I got happy and asked how mush he tell's me 80$ + tax. I was like okay sure for 95 episodes t's worth it thing is he tells me that inside there are around 24 in the 4 dvd's now i freak out and get pissed. The motha fuckers want us to buy anime and win somme money thing is they are ripping the hell out of us no wondre ppl coppy dvd's and give them on the net. They make those ads about dl that makes artists go broke and stop produsing and writing songs and shit but iff i buy i get my ass ripped of. If they want to protect their industy well first lower your fuckin prises and try to make it more afordable. Same shit with movies. The lower the prise the more ppl will buy and they will still have money to create what will 10 or 20 change.

Since that happend i have no fuckin pity for those ass holes and i wll still dl and i hope other ppl will doo the same to make them react and do sommething cose that is just ridicilus.

i can honsetly say that i dont understand a thing you said, you might wanna try to spell just a little bit better and, ya know, make sense.

as for the anime thing, i agree with you. while sometimes i still feel bad for dling anime, the fact of the matter is that only having 3 or 4 eps on one dvd is just a little bit silly.

Quit yer cryin, bud!

There are a heck of a lot of people to pay than just the people who deserve it most. Especailly when you bring it over to America, a whole cast of other people to pay, like hell if I want my money to go to the dub voice actors! It's a HUGE FREAKING rip-off every time you buy an anime DVD, but that's the only way the anime market can be supported, charging way more than conventionally or logically due. Plus, watching anime downloads on the computer sucks so much, so the creators of my favorite shows will be getting their 4% due from me! :D

Ever heard of eBay? :?

And for the record, I'm not sure it's the creators of animes who price the DVD's...it's the companies who license them in the US. DVD's are expensive. Always have been, always will be.

Quite true (in Japan DVDs usually cost more, too) but paying 30 fricking dollars for about 90 minutes of footage is a TERRIBLE price when most movies around 90 minutes cost like $12.

^Forgot to mention that I buy ALL of my anime on officail DVDs, accept for the occasional HK bootleg for things that where completely failed in syndication (like Yugioh). It's a huge rip-off, but in a way or two it's worth it.

$80 for 24 eps. sounds reasonable to me. I paid that much to get all 26 eps. of Outlaw Star.

People who complain like this should look at the prices for official anime dvds in Japan and be thankful they don't have to pay that much.

Cripes, people are getting so cheap these days.
"well this guy charges too much so I'm gonna steal his music/show for free!" Stuff like that pisses me off. If you can't afford it, don't get it.
Now, what I don't mind is sampling (Newtype is got a good idea with the dvd), wherein you can download the first ep or a single song (or a bunch of clips like Amazon does) to see if you like, a kind of try before you buy.

The only time I could see downloading entire series or albums off the be good is if the said item is out of print and quite difficult to get. If you can buy a legitimate copy new from a store, then you shouldn't be downloading it.

For crying out loud people!

It's a decision you make over what to spend your money on. As Ryuu pointed out there are alternatives to the over-priced dvd issue. However, anime is not the same as a Hollywood movie, it has a MUCH smaller fan base in that sense so bringing things over here tend to cost quite a bit once you go through all the translations and dubbing etc...Add to the fact that illegal copies do float around, you have EVEN LESS people buying things, causing prices to inflate. It's a lose lose situation in such cases...

But meh, it doesn't stop me from paying ridiculous amounts of money on the animes I want. I have a job, I buy. When I didn't have a job, I saved and bought what I really wanted.

For example, the other day, I spent $50 on a DVD with a running time of 90 minutes, BECAUSE I WANTED IT! It's that simple. However, you must also compare companies and how they release, I mean the $50 X dvd I bought featured 3 episodes while the $50 Fruits Basket DVD I bought featured 6.

Quit your whining already
