Kurama. I would love to say Hiei, but unless he stuck to his sword and sliced and diced Kurama before he had a chance to summon a plant, he wouldn't win. Kurama has an unknown wealth of weaponry in his plants - who knows what he could call if he had to fight Hiei - some super fast fire and sword resistant plant that would snap Hiei up or melt him in a flood of acid - the possibilities are endless. It would be a deadly fight if they faced off - and I'm convinced - unless Hiei killed him in a second before he knew it was coming, Hiei would lose.
Sad, too, since Hiei is my favorite fighter - but he says it himself, he wouldn't want to be Kurama's enemy. He's too much of an unknown when he's using his makai plants (specifically Youko Kurama - if we're talking Hiei versus Kurama in his human form with nothing but his life-draining plants - Hiei would win hands down).

What you have to keep in mind is that Kurama 'learns' his opponents when he fights. He already knows all of Hiei's weaknesses, and what sort of attacks he has to use. Hiei only knows the few plants he has seen Kurama summon - no one knows what he *hasn't* chose to summon yet.
And since Kurama knows Hiei's fighting style so well, and knows his weaknesses, he'd be able to sort through his plants and find the perfect one to defeat him. It would have to be a fight Kurama wasn't expecting, otherwise, he'd be set for guaranteed victory, while Hiei would be facing someone who knows him and his fighting methods - but someone who could be coming at him with who knows what sort of attack (summoned plant).
Surprise attack = dead Kurama, Hiei wins
Planned face off = Kurama wins
Either way, one would be at a disadvantage and the fight would be unfair - I'd never want to see that match.

The only part of YYH I've ever read didn't have either Hiei or Kurama in it ;_;....though I've seen Ari's Born to Wild AMV *still owe you an op for that one and the Innocent Love...btw, why did I need to find out you made a Sailor Moon vid from Otohiko! >.< I thought you'd have at least sent me a pm for such a vid ;_; .../guilt trips jokingly* ...where was I going with this, oh right, I'd want the silver haired (I'm assuming that's Youko Kurama?) to win, the fox looks stronger than Hiei...

Heh, I posted an announcement for that sailormoon vid. ^_^;;Moonlight Soldier wrote:The only part of YYH I've ever read didn't have either Hiei or Kurama in it ;_;....though I've seen Ari's Born to Wild AMV *still owe you an op for that one and the Innocent Love...btw, why did I need to find out you made a Sailor Moon vid from Otohiko! >.< I thought you'd have at least sent me a pm for such a vid ;_; .../guilt trips jokingly* ...where was I going with this, oh right, I'd want the silver haired (I'm assuming that's Youko Kurama?) to win, the fox looks stronger than Hiei...
And yeah - the silver fox is Kurama - but in terms of pure offensive strength, Hiei would usualy be stronger. It's just that Kurama knows him too well - and Kurama is best when he can judge his opponent, so it's a fight that would be weighted in his favor regardless of Hiei's attack power.
You should read the 'Two Shots' manga excerpt - that's the infamous 'first time they met' flashback from the manga for Kurama and Hiei. It's the only part of the manga I've seen scanlations for (the rest I just read transcripts for - I'm still hoping they release it eventually).

All things concidered, before the Dark tournament, I honestly don't know who would win- but after it. Hiei- all the way Kurama is a very strong and quick to think fighter but he couldn't stand up to the dragon. And I loe both the boys and am a HUG YYH fan- luv it so much...*hiei fan girl*

Heh, I'm going by Kurama after the Sensui arc - when he has complete control over his shift to youko. Before then, I'd definitely say Hiei. But as youko, I'm sure Kurama could call something to counter the dragon - and since it takes Hiei at least two minutes to summon it (not counting when he uses it on himself since he can do that in a few seconds in the Sensui arc) - a fast plant could block the jagan before Hiei had a chance to summon it. Just think of the damage Kurama did with blood at the beginning of the series - an actual plant with warding attributes would work much much better. And keep in mind - Hiei can't call his black flame if his jagan is blocked - and he can't use his dragon without both his jagan and his arm unwarded. Kurama knows that. Even as a human, he could probably find some plant to block both - effectively eliminating Hiei's main attack (black flame). And then it would be Hiei's speed and physical strength versus whatever plant Kurama used.
Hiei's ever so cool as a fighter, but he's not a strategist. And Kurama knows Hiei's limits, he doesn't know anything about Kurama's past except what Kurama has told him - which doesn't include the types of plants he can summon (hence Hiei's surprise during the dark tournament - Kurama's match with Karasu).
