Inuyasha (anime) winding down?

Post by Kearly » Mon Mar 22, 2004 2:21 am

I heard a rumor that Inuyasha may be down to its final episode or two. I think Golden week is coming up soon, but I don't know for sure. I did a search on Google and came up with nothing substantial. Before giving up I figured I'd come back here and see what you guys know.

A.) Is there any news about when the TV anime will end?
B.) Is there any news about when the Manga will end?
C.) Are we in "Golden week?"

I know a lot of people will read this and want to take a crack at Inu Yasha for running too long, but please try to respond to this post seriously and share what you know (rumors are fine but facts are preffered).

All I have are rumors about the ending date - 140+ episodes for sure. If there have been 140 episodes done, then it might be getting close.

But I do have one fact - if it's getting close now, meaning only 10 or so episodes left, then there is no rising climax like there would be in most other anime. Lengthy anime tend to build up slowly toward something and then have the last 4th of the anime be an 'uphill run' to the crashing finale. If Inuyasha is almost over, then it won't have that. No build-up in the last episodes, and not enough episodes left to make a good one. It will just close the same way short anime do with minor fights, 2-4 eps at most and then the afterthought episode.

I hope it's going to run for another 20-30 episodes, so it will end as good as it began. And it did have a great beginning.

I believe the Inu-Yasha manga is suppose to end in December this year. The anime...who knows. :? I jsut hope it ends soon after the manga does. After all, all good things must come to an end, right? I would hate to see them abuse the Inu-Yasha anime by milking it for all it's worth, considering its so popular. That would ruin the series. :(

In Japan all 140+ episodes have been completed. Adult Swim has shown around 54ish and will show new ones in April. I myself have seen the uncut ones all the way through 84 and am about to watch 85 and 86. I think the manga still has a long way to go, not sure if it has been completed in Japan but here it's around the same pace as the TV show.

I know that the fansubs are at least up to 145. Cartoon network currently has 52 episodes and will supposedly run all the way up to 104 starting April 24th.

well i'm on 143 and they have one shikon shard left to find, and they already know where it is.....

i know that the manga continues for quite a while after the current plotline, but i really hope the anime stops soon after they get the whole shikon no tama. I've found that since the shinitai (introduced ep.110) all die off the plot's been kinda weak.

I'm hopeful thugh cuz rumiko takahashi's (.sp, sorry) ranma 1/2 ended after the man plaot, but is continued much farther ina still-running manga.

I finshed kenshin last week and i found the ending a big let-down. they were going so well untill they completed the shisho ark.....i only hope inuyahsa doesn't follow the same path...

Thanks Doki^2. Very useful info.

Haven't seen you much in the forum before, but figured I'd take this opportunity to say I knew about your work before I even got into anime. About a year and a half ago my friend Eric showed me a bunch of AMV's, the catalyst which drew me into anime and AMV's instead of gaming. DokiDoki videos were his favorite (he had downloaded them off of kazaa, he did not know about this site). I remember us laughing our asses off after watching "life's gonna suck." Good times. :)

Ranma combat was a classic too, especially a year and a half ago.
