Can anyone suggest a good medieval-style anime?

Somewhat action-oriented preferrably, but doesn't have to be.

I mean, all the space and robots and katanas are great, but sometimes we just need to settle down with a good old broadsword.

Dragon Slayer. Great anime. The artists were definately over caffinated during the making of it. Hopefully I'll get an AMV of it done soon.

I would reccomend Escaflowne aswell.

Half of the fights are hand to hand sword duels and the other half are giant mech sword duels. It also has an incredible story with 0 filler to wrap it all up. It may not fit the "medieval" genre dead on but i think you would enjoy it.

well, there's of course Escaflowne, then Ninja Scrolls, Rournio Kenshin and related animes to that.

You obviously missed the part where he wanted animes without the samarui stuff.

Here is my list of Medivial type anime:

Record of Loddoss War
Berserk
Ruin Soldier has a mid evil feel to it
Arc the Lad

Its hard to find many anime that take place outside of Japan or Japanese type world (alternate earths and what not).

SLAYERS is my personal favorite followed by Those Who Hunt Elves 1 & 2. Then Escaflowne.
