Video Store People Need to Die
If you can't tell by the title, this is a huge rant against my video store. The ratings for their tiny pathetic selection of anime are fucked up big time. I went over there with my friend cuz we were bored and thought "why don't we rent some movies?"
So anyways we go over their and we decided to get the first DVD of X and Full Metal Panic, which I was told is good. We were also looking around at the other videos. Macross was Youth Restricted Viewing or whatever (which made me laugh cuz its not that bad), X wasn't and Full Metal Panic was. So even tho I wanted to see FMP I couldn't cuz I'm 17 not 18. In fact, the whole ratings system is backwards and it pisses me off.
We ended up cheating by peeling the sticker that said restricted off of Rahxephon and renting that and X. I swear I'm surprised that Pokemon isn't restricted, or DB/DBZ/DBGT which they had an almost sickening amount of in stock. Now for the ultimate laugh: Hellsing, all of the volumes, is not restricted!! We could have rented it even tho we're under-age except I've seen the first 8 episodes already.

Yes i'm poor and there's also the fact that I have nowhere to buy things from. Nobody sells anime where I live and I can't use e-bay oh well. Some anime is better than none, even if i have to rent it.

Okay, the world's smallest violin is playing JUST for you. Didn't anyone tell you that you can't always get what you want? Spoiled children... Until I got a better job recently I had to walk uphill through the snow - I mean, save up to buy everything I got. You know, months, to buy one DVD. Enough whining. If you want it badly enough, save up and for the love of god STOP WHINING.sweetstarfire wrote:Yes i'm poor and there's also the fact that I have nowhere to buy things from. As for where to buy or rent anime:
- Netflix. You sign up, you rent by mail, you send them back. I have heard many good things about this.
- Amazon, where I happen to buy 90% of my anime, because I am lazy and like buying junk at 2 o'clock in the morning.
- Rightstuf has both a website (dot com) and a print catalog, to order things by mail.
Anyone in the States can take advantage of those, even if they live where anime isn't available at every mom-n-pop podunk video store.
And while I'm bitching a blue streak, all o'ya should be grateful that anime is as mainstream as it is now. Before our time people couldn't get this stuff in any normal store, ever. It was fuzzy fansubs or nothing. So there.

I am over the age of 18, and my local blockbuster has a selection of great anime, and lots of it. (Excel Saga, Eva, Spriggan, Berserk, VHD, VHD: Bloodlust, X, Escaflowne the Movie, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Grave of the Fireflies, and at least a dozen others.)
It doesn't have anything to do with the thread, I just wanted to brag.

So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab
