kill bill gives positive boost to anime

Post by SpLiF_3d » Wed Apr 14, 2004 2:24 pm

I just rented Kill Bill Vol.1 and the Origin of O-Ren was an awesome scene, but that goes without saying. What i want to say is that after watching the piece and talking to others i work with (i work at Blockbuster Video) they have told me how they thought it was cool as well. i had been trying to explain how anime isn't just cartoons that characters have more depth and there is more story to it. This film opened there eyes a bit. i was wondering what anybody else thought or if there had been other influencial works that give non-anime watchers a different opinion...thx for your time...laterz SpLyF

ps. sorry this is so long

fist: Nope, not too long.

then: but again, gives this piece of anime in KB1 oil in the fire of those who say: "bah, anime. Just porn, kiddies and useless violence."

the anime scenes were pretty cool but the movie as a whole was ok, I'm not a big Tarentino fan. It's basically a live action anime, did have it's cool moments though

not a live-action-anime. Kill Bill was a homage to the lost 70ies HK-splattermovies, the long lost genre.

..but, the HK-splattermove wasn´t lost or forgotten. It´s just that people learned to do better movies. QT, however, thought that everything that is old might rock nowadays. and... ok, there are people around that like KB. I don´t think that it´s legendary.

It was violent enough, but I think it worked. Had that style to it which is really more reflective of older, hand-drawn titles. Admittably, most modern anime looks very different from this, but you can see where this came from.

I approve.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…
