[Sell Me On...] Love Hina and Chobits
Since it's been a while since we had a SMO thread, let me revisit: The goal of a 'Sell Me On...' thread is for people who like the show to state their opinion as to why the original poster should start watching it. Both positive and negative opinions are welcomed so long as they're not just flames.
Anyway, a double-header for you. I've seen plenty of Love Hina AMVs, and it seems like the show's a good vehicle for romance vids, which is something I'd like to expand into at one point. I've seen random Chobits footage in Animix and a few other things, and the concept's intriguing, but how good is the anime?
So, let's hear it. Sell me on either or both shows!

If you're looking to amuse yourself then sure pick them up. IMHO however, for both series' I prefer the manga. Everything is much more in depth. The anime's both come off as fanservicy. That isn't to say I don't like them, but they aren't up to par with the manga.
Love Hina seemed to drag. I wasn't overly impressed with it...which is probably why I still need the last 3 volumes. Love Hina Again was probably my favourite and it did sum up the love story. (This is rather shocking since it introduced the character that I hated from the manga....I felt she was a cheap way to expand the series for another volume, but her animated version is much better).
Chobits, while fanservicy and lacking the depth of the manga is just addictive in my opinion. It had a much better love element to it than Love Hina and at least remained consistent. If I had to pick, I'd say Chobits is much more entertaining for inciting romance/comedy/drama then Love Hina.
/two cents.

Love Hina is okay, I suppose. I'm not too crazy about it.
Chobits is something else entirely. I've only seen a little of the anime, but I really liked what I saw. The manga is AWESOME. I'd say it ties with Azumanga Daioh for my favorite. I'll admit, when I first heard the concept ("Human guy and robot girl...I know where THAT'll lead") I thought it seemed stupid, but I totally love it now.

Love Hina didn't impress me too much (even though I like dubs a lot, this one was SERIOUSLY bad ); the fact of a "loser" guy living with a lot of cute girls wasn't very interesting to me (this is also why I don't like Tenchi Muyo). And the gag of Naru hitting Keitaro got old REALLY fast.
On the other hand, Chobits has a "loser" guy who's actually LIKEABLE (he's a country boy who's not a geek). There's a few fanservice moments, but later in the series there's a serious amount of drama (Clamp style 8) ) which was very entertaining.

I really liked Love Hina, it is one of my favorites. In fact it and Tenchi Muyo are the titles that gt me interested in romance comedies.
Naru Narusegawa is hot headed and reacts alot before thinking but under that gruff exterior she is a sweetheart.
And alot of the other characters are just so darn likeable like Otohime Mutsumi, Kaolla Su, Motoko-chan, Shinobu Maehara, etc. If you are at all a compassionate and caring person it is hard not to grow attached to some of the characters. And I feel it also has some of the best comedy scenes I ahve ever seen.
Chobits I liked and it also had some very touching moments and some classic comedy moments but I felt let down at the end. But it is still worth watching. I just didnt like it as much as Love Hina or Kare Kano

My comments are based on the Chobits manga, since it's the only version I sorta care to get into. Chobits looks like your standard guy falls in love with android girl plot, but since it's from CLAMP, there's a lot more to it than that. As you get futher into the plot, a few secrets get tossed at you like who made Chi, for what purpose was she made, and who wants to find out her secrets for their own use. The whole thing starts out as a romantic comedy and shifts into sci-fi. Its also got some great characters like Minoru and Plum(Sumono). I definitely suggest checking it out.
Probably too busy to be here right now.
