I happen to be relatively pissed off at life and Kenshin
To begin I would like to say that I hate myself. Now that we have that out of the way, I am going to vent something that has been on my mind for millions of years. Actually its been more like maybe a few months, but whatever. Now usually I wouldn't ask such a nerdy question, but it actually has been bothering me.
Ok, here it goes:
Now I really like Rurouni Kenshin, and up through the point where he fights Shishio (if that's spelled right), It is pretty much the most kick ass show I've ever seen. But then, come the third season, they go and screw everything up and make it gay. By that I mean, they went and changed the whole flow that made the show great.
One of the most brilliant aspects of it, was that, during the first two seasons, it always left you wanting more. This was done by moving slowly through the story line and leaving off at critical points. Now I understand that this is probably a trend in Anime, to make you want more, but the third season of Rurouni Kenshin goes at a pace that is on crack. I mean, it went through so many little sections of Kenshin's life in such a short amount of time. This takes away the suspense factor and replaces it with gay. It was almost as if they had run out of time for their show and were trying to fit in everything really quickly at the end. That is never good because you always have to leave something out, and in this case, it was the ability to be a great show. Now, a few episodes in the third season were pretty cool, but were nothing compared to the first two seasons.
Another one of the awesome aspects of the earlier Kenshin, was that it was, in a general sense, based in the realm of reality. by that I mean that their was no magic, it was just sword fighting. Now dont get me wrong, magic in anime is freakin' awesome, but it was kind of cool to see no magic and crazy unrealistic stuff. Well that all changed in the third season when they abandoned their swordplay in exchange for some gay-ass feng shui or something gay like that, I don't even care how to spell it if that shows how much it pissed me off (Now that spelling may be right, but I doubt it). Why would you abandon something good you had going for something that makes the show incredibly dumb? I don't know, but apparently the makers of Kenshin do.
There are a few other reason that the last season of Kenshin sucks, but they aren't as important as the two I already mentioned. I'm sorry I just went all nerdy on you, but apparently this was weighing on my mind. Well, whatever. If you think that they messed up the ending of Kenshin, or any other good Anime for that matter, feel free to vent here. If you think that they didn't mess up the eending feel free to post here and tell me why, but be warned, I will give you the finger. If you can live with that, then by all means go ahead. I'm so lonely.

The manga wasen't finished when the show-makers had gotten up to the third season, so they pretty much just went where their fancy took them. I hear the manga creator isn't very happy with them either.

Thank you for your brutal honesty Lyrs, but I am giving you the finger as I write this (well technically I wrote it and then gve you the finger but you understand). As for my usage of the word "gay" it is merely a word I've grown up with to mean stupid and wrong which happens to be my personal believe anyway. So I use it. I'm not sure what you meant by saying it makes my ethos weak. I'm not sure that word is used right, but if you can exlain it to me it would be helpful. Also, I wasn't complaining so much as providing my opinion on a subject and asking for other peoples opinion. Which reminds me, you didn't give an opinion at all. you just told me what was wrong with me. you know what that makes you right. Gay. Queer. Faggot. Pick one. Once again I give you the finger and I expect to hear from you later.

It's called slander, and it makes you look uneducated and small minded, not the best way to come off when you're making an argument. Language like that is insulting to many, and weakens any strength of reason you might have had - it makes people pass you off as just another name-caller. They stop listening to you because your name-calling makes it sound like you don't have anything reasonable to say. To be repetitive - dumb people can't argue, they just sling mud at their opponents in the form of names and insults. When someone does that during an argument, it makes him look like that's the best he can do - like he can't think of anything smart to say, so he just calls names.El Diablo Rojo wrote:As for my usage of the word "gay" it is merely a word I've grown up with to mean stupid and wrong which happens to be my personal believe anyway. Now, I happen to agree with you completely about the last arc of Rurouni Kenshin, but your slander and the fact that you actually stand up for using that sort of language, just makes me want to ignore you entirely. It doesn't matter that you're right about RK, or that you have some very intelligent points in favor of your argument. With your attitude and language, all that gets masked behind ugliness and close-minded ugliness at that. The hostile "I'll give you the finger" also makes you seem immature, which doesn't help the language any either.
On all accounts, I'd take you for a noob from the way you 'speak' and your attitude. It's sad considering you aren't new, and you actually *did* have some intelligent things to say. You just masked all that behind this childish delivery.

i call the who gives a shit card....
seriously its just a word, that used to mean something else, before it was used as another term for homosexual...
i think we should go back in the dictionary times and change words back to singular meanings
gay: happy
queer: strange, weird
faggot:A bundle of twigs, sticks, or branches bound together.
or.......A bundle of pieces of iron or steel to be welded or hammered into bars.
they're just words get over it

I only explained because he asked how his language made his argument look weak. It would be like me using the word nigger every other sentence while describing someone - sure, it might have been used once as a simple word that meant 'dark skinned' but that doesn't make it an acceptable term when you use it as an insult, and overuse of that word makes the user look less intelligent for having used it.el_farlo wrote:they're just words get over it
But yeah, I wasn't really insulted by his usage so much as the way he defended it with the "everyone uses it" excuse. People do a lot of things, that doesn't make following them the right course of action. ;p

I thank you for that Arigatomyna. You have opened my eyes, to an extent. I probably will always be a name-caller but thats just me. If anyone wants a legitimate argument then I will gladly oblige and refrain from name-calling unless the occasion calls for it. Oh and technically its not slander, its lible (if thats how you spell it). But that s not the point. The point is that I understand what you're saying and that I respect your opinion. I do consider myself mostly immature, but I'm sure you understood the give the finger comment as a joke, and, if you didn't, that was the intention- to be a joke or at least mostly. I'm just trying toi not let things get too serious, because I don't care for that sort of thing. My choice of words, however, is just that, my choice of words. I'm not trying to win a popularity contest with what I write, I'm just trying to write what I feel. I feel that the last season of Rurouni Kenshin was gay. Maybe there's a better word, but I don't intend to use it. Call it close-minded if you want, but this is a word I am going to use. If you don't like, then do what you think is the best course of action. Whatever that is I wish you good luck. Or, Whatever.
I also would like to say thank you to el_farlo for trying to remind us that it doesn't really matter. They are just words, but apparently they offend people. whether that means they have unresolved issuse or not, I don't know. I also appreciate the definitions you provided. I did know them, but its always good to be reminded of things like that.
The issue, however, is not what words we use or how we present our case. The issue is that I think the last season of Rurouni Kenshin just flat out sucked. I would still like opinions either way.

It sucked so bad I don't even know if it sucked because I refused to watch it. The previews were enough to show me it was far too different from the Rurouni Kenshin I knew and loved. I leave it for the other fans who like that sort of thing, it just doesn't sound at all worth watching (not from previews, or the episode guides I've read for it). Blegh.
