THOUGHT AND QUESTION:
Rock and anime go hand in hand. They compliment each other, the way old friends do. From Dave's wail of Disturbed to Papa Roach and LP...Trigun, RK, Cowboy Bebop. Other music genres are pliable. Jazz, original compositions, alternative/classic rock...totally kick ass.
Rage is a source, a reason to seek pacification. Explosion, implosion...disaster, clarity, insanity. Anime celebrates human ideals, struggles, glorification, success, and pain. Any medium of artistic expression possess these qualities, but I think that Anime sits on a pedestal of its own.
Rock...just rock, the kind that eats up your fears and spits them out so that clarity follows. You become an anime character, swimming in the torrent of colors and emotional havoc. if this post makes no sense, you have no idea of the workings and effects of rock and anime. if you understand, then we're part of the same appreciation for both these artistic entities.
What sort of rock and anime fit to you? Which anime do slip into in your own mind?

That's a stupid and ignorant comment.
Anime covers a wide variety of things. And quite frankly, there are not exactly a lot of hard core heavy death metal songs that would go with pretty girl animes.
And rock covers a lot of ground as well. Quite frankly, I don't a dark sinister gothic vampire anime series is going to coincide very well with Chuck Berry or the Beach Boys either.

Signatures are for saying things in a hope to be remembered. I'm not sure if I even want you to remember me.

u are corect that the type of anime dicides the song that goes good with it. but i really cant see rap going along with an amv. some synphenis work but most clasical music wont. i think what kearanoske is trying to say is that for most cases somekinda rock song goes well with anime.

my mistake is using the general word "rock" and "anime"...
u guys decide how they fit.
it's true that maybe WHITE ZOMBIE or PANTERA wouldn't do justice to Chobits and vice versa. but i DO THINK that editing and creative style can do miracles.
and dude, goth is a lfestyle...not a curse. i'm not one but i know people who r totally kick ass!
anyone else comment?

when you wrote synphenis, did you mean symphonies? i honestly can't tell. and on the actual topic, i would think whether it would fit with anime would depend on the type of rock.madmag9999 wrote:though i must agree with u i also want to disagre.Unsent Vibes wrote:That's a stupid and ignorant comment.

Why is everyone taking her comment as some sort of overwhelming generalization?
She never said any rock would fit all anime.
She never said all anime would fit any rock.
She said that when you're looking at angry, harsh, emotional rock music and the effect it has on listeners, your best source for a visual compliment to that music can be found in anime. Not in all anime. In anime as a collective - just like a person might say the best place to find comedy visuals is anime. It's not because all anime are angsty and 'made for' rock music - no more than all anime are comedy slapstick made for 'humor' music. It's because anime, unlike movies, gives more possibilities - it has a better chance of visualizing what these hard rock listeners imagine seeing.
Don't take the comment to mean "anime fits rock no matter what the show is about or what the song is about." Take it as "for fans of rock, they can find their visual compliment in the realm of anime."
I don't believe anyone here can argue that point. And that is the point. So what is everyone arguing about in this thread?
As for me...I don't know the difference between hard rock, light rock, modern rock, etc. But I love the match of angsty music to angsty anime and can't imagine finding such 'fitting' matches in any other visual source whether I looked through movies, art, or soap opera style television shows.
