Naruto...A little Sexist?
Has anybody else noticed this? all the characters who get the most attention In Naruto are Male, they all have the best fight scenes, they talk more, evrything leans toward them, the straongest characters are all male. Furthermore, the only thing I've noticed any of the girls doing is either defending males, or idolizing/cheeleading. The most attention any of them get is when they briefly save the day, but really they just kept the episode going for an extra three minutes...It kinda pisses me off.

Well, I think it's a safe bet that the target audience is young adolescent males...

all the better reason to be a little more progressive...I understand that japan is little more conservative that the US, but still, the vast majority of series still illustrate at least one strong female charatcer, As far as I can tell Naruto has none...Now perhaps I'm the one being sexist...I dunno.

eh, I dunno, I've seen a lot of shows, anime or otherwise, which have more male characters and/or the male characters are stronger/smarter than the female ones. Maybe it's sexism, maybe it's aiming it at a certain target audience like paizuri said (I tend to think this is the case), but whatever, a lot of the shows I like feature female characters who are strong in at least one sense of the word... then again I also like alot of shows which don't... as long as there is a mix of shows with strong female and male characters, I think it's okay on the whole.
Not sure that answered the question or anything.

Yeah, it's a shounen series. That tends to happen. I don't mean to let my blunt-jerk side out, but just get over it.
Just because some characters in a series act one way doesn't mean that everyone does, or that it's intended to be seen that way.

Well consider the premise as well, it's Ninja's.... =/
Even if you were to consider the female shinobi....they tend to be spies, with less action roles. Now add in the genre of Naruto, and the demographic...sure it's going to lead more towards males.
In the same sense you could say that Azumanga Daioh is sexist, but I don't think it's the intent of either creator. It's just the way the story/genre pans out.

It's a show aimed at guys.
There are plenty of other anime that feature female characters such as Azumanga, Haibane, Sakura, Sailor Moon and .hack that do just fine for the ladies.
So to answer the question: sure, it's probably a bit sexist, but then so is DragonballZ, and Street Fighter Alpha.

Alright, I get the point...but does Sakura have to be so darn annoying...hehehe, I suppose that was the whole thing that bothered me in the first place...since she's really the only femeal in the first 20 episodes, aside from the minor Roles of Ino, and...shoot...Inari's mom...
I guess I just tend to not like such overtly sexist shows like Sailor Moon, Burn Up Excess and Najica...I'll get over it, sure enough...
