Kenshin vs samurai champloo'
This isn't a Spike vs Vash type of thread.
I'm wondering what people think the strengths and weaknesses are of the two.
For me, Kenshin has a more varied type amout of charachers personality wise. Kenshin was previously my favorite anime, but if this Champloo keeps going in this direction, he'll fall down to #2
But to me the anime style, and especially direction in Samurai champloo by Wannabe' (sp) is phenomenal. Example episode one where he goes back and forth between the two main charachters situations is timed perfectly. Also champloo is seeming much more realistic fighting wise, kind of on par with Trust and betrayal, but for the whole series.
This is shaping up to be a classic, there up to episode 3 allready, check it out and voice your opinion

I was a big fan of the Kenshin OVA, but Samurai Champaloo looks to be kickin' some serious arse! >_<
The fighting is awsome and the charas seem well realised but what d'ya expect from the guy behind cowboy beebop?!
Once again he's taken a music style hitherto unassociated with the genre and made it work& seem natural. Coolies! n_n

From what I've been hearing Samurai Champloo is a great show. I have a question though. When will it be available for purchase in the States? That and/or if it will be on American TV anytime soon (doubtable). Or maybe it already is and i just dont know it yet. It would be nice to know this stuff, but whatever.
But for now i'd have to say that Kenshin is better story-wise and action-wise and depth-wise and character-wise and pretty much anything else on account that i have not seen Samurai Champloo. Looks cool though. I'm so lonely.

I thought it was produced by Bones too. It's actually produced by manglobe INC. I think this is the only anime they've done (I'm probably wrong).Juicy J wrote:i have a few episodes and ive watched em and all that and yeah its great. But i was wondering, is this also a BONES thing...or no?
Not sure when it will be available, but Samurai Champloo has been licenced by GeneonEl Diablo Rojo wrote:From what I've been hearing Samurai Champloo is a great show. I have a question though. Just so you know, the guy's name is actualy Watanabe.
(Though I must admit, the first time I saw that name, in a draft for Tony LaRussa 3 on a friend's computer many years ago, we also read it as "Wannabe" and had quite the laugh at it...)

I love how realistic the combat has been so far in Champloo. All the fights seem very possible and do look like they are won by skill, unlike most shows where it seems the hero just gets more powerful and kills their enemy.
There's also none of the unrealistic fights that plagued the Kenshin TV show in the later parts.

CONTAINS SOME SPOILER.... SHOULD NOT READ UNLESS YOU HAVE SEEN FAR PAST THE US RELEASES ON CARTOON NETWORK AND THE LIKE
im not sure wat parts u mean by unrealistic but if u train in any martial art for a long time u can do some pretty wierd stuff. i do understand that in RR the season in which he fights the other hiten master it is pretty unrealistic how he looses his vision but as far as actual fighting goes it pretty consisten if you have studied some blade styles or technique
