Whats makes a fav anime a fav anime?

What makes a favorite anime your favorite anime? Is it the storyline, the characters, the adventures? My favorite anime is Sailor Moon!!! I love all five seasons, all of my music videos are Sailor Moon minus a few Dragon Ball Z videos I have done. I constantly ask myself why do i love this anime so much? Im sure their are a few people out there, to some degree, wish they could be the characters they admire and love so much. I dont know why I love it so much. Maybe its the romance? Friendship? Chracters? Speacial Powers? Background Story? Maybe one day I'll find out why I love Sailor Moon so much. Why do you like your favorite anime so much?

I can't say there's any formula for me. But with all fiction (not just anime) the things that appeal to me are (not in any particular order) characters, story, atmosphere / setting, and 'substance'. So by "substance" I mean something deeper than the superficial events of the story - it may be an 'emotion', a 'point', a 'question' raised or whatever. It's hard to describe precisely, but I can expound if it isn't clear...

Of course for something like anime, good artwork helps too.

if an anime is drama it better have a good story
if an anime is comedy it better be funny
if an anime is perverted it better have....

if an anime is pointless it better be a good pointless anime

What makes a favorite anime a favorite anime?

Well the most important thing is characters. If a show has wonderful characters (Kare Kano, Evangelion, Berserk, Noir, Cowboy Bebop, Dragon Ball Z... hey, taht's my top 6!) then it's in.

But generally I have to like most aspects of the show and I have to enjoy it immensely, like the story and style and progression, be interested in the characters and plot and what happens regarding it. And other stuff like that.

For me comedy is a must, and so is action. Also, the story has to be good, or make sence.

My fav anime so far is either Golden Boy or Onegai Teacher
