Had any interesting reactions from people from seeing anime?
I was wondering if anyone here ever had any interesting reactions out of people who had just seen anime. Of course, if your parents walk in during the middle of a fan service scene, there is going to be an awkward and embarassing situation, but I'm asking about something different.
A few months ago, me and my cousin stayed up for an entire night watching the entire Cowboy Bebop series. She'd always thought that all animations were for kids and couldn't be impressive, so seeing drugs and blood and death in a "cartoon" really shocked her. She even cried at what happened to Spike in the end.
Since she really enjoyed it, last weekend, we did the same thing and stayed up for the night watching Neon Genesis Evangelion. After seeing all of the episodes and director's cut DVDs and both movies, she said that she was traumatized for life, deeply disturbed, that she would never watch anime again, and that I had to pay for her psychiatrist bill.
Have you ever had an experiance like this? Maybe where someone was always saying "OMG u watch cartoons?! thos r 4 kids!1" and then you showed them Ninja Scroll or Ghost In The Shell or End of Evangelion and blew them away? Or maybe your girlfriend walked in on you while Shinji was grabbing Rei's boob and you got dumped?
Share, share!

The incident with my parents before i move out...
They came in hen I was watching Akira. Right about when that girl got her shirt torn off. After that they started snapping my tapes, DVDs, burning my wall scrolls, etc. Everything anime related was evil and had to be destroyed. So I stared hiding them. D@mn baptist parents they hated me for other things too. I wont get into that.

I don't normal get reactions because I never show anybody else. I feel embarassed or shy most of the time. I only talk about anime in public when I know now one knows what I is sayin'. Its hard not to be pointed out in a crowed though. My shirt right now is the J-List "Forbidden to urinate here" shirt. Buy my shyness may have been contributed to when I was teased in school. That was when I started to take atidepressents from the teassing. I wan'st expelled persay, but I got off school for 3 days because they thought I was going to commite suiside. I was quoting Vash! For God's sake! "I didaprove of suiside more than anything." And they let me go home! Other hylights from that 2 weeks was punching the most famous kid in the school and getting away with it (He saw that he got in my bubble and didn't retaliate). Flipping into a mad rage while flipping my desk, then leaving the class room to cry. And the rest I'v mostly blocked out.
So I don't get strange reactions, but I have givven them.
I wonder if I should bother to post this?
Too late.

Woah...that wasn't the type of thing I was expecting to see, but it was an interesting read nonetheless.
After my dad heard my cousin talking about how much Evangelion had creeped her out, he asked me to show him what was so scary about it. I guessed that he was looking for something 'inappropriate' or whatever. It was the second director's cut disk in the dvd player at the moment. I went to the end of the show when Eva is holding Kaworu. I pushed play and surprisingly he stayed through the 60-second long scene and then at the end he went 'huh' and left.
I laughed so damn hard.

well for me it started out with a few evanglion fan subs, well theres that one ep where the 3 girls are saying "join with me shingy" (sry i bastrized that name i can't spell) and well my mom watched it and thought that it was bad even though it wasn't really showing anything and that german girl looked like she was wearing a skin colored shirt cuzz the 2 pale "lumps" turned into a strait line, then at the end of that ep they talk about bar hoping and my mom was totaly in my face about it, my dad understood that only some anime is like that not all of it. and if i was watching my fan subs she would get in my face "why is she hugging him like that!?" in the mom tone and i'd be like, "cuzz her brother just got murdered and shes said". and she just says oh and walks off. but then i got in her face when my 1 year old sis would watch tv after school my mom be like "what is your sis up to" and i'd be like "oh just watching anime" (mostly pokemon and yugo) well and then she stoped bothering me and my fan subs. then she found out my cusian also was into this anime stuff like more into it then me, and so before i know shes been bugging me to read this summer and she comes home from the local library and i think oh great more crap to read but then she pulls it out and i see she got some manga (no my libary isn't great they only started to get into graphic novals only bout 1 shelf so far) and also got EscaFlown dvd (only anime dvd there) so i think she has a understanding now. then theres also that time i rented that exdriver dvd from block buster and they had to watch it with me cuzz
1 it was anime
2 it just had a chezy thing in the back saying 13 and up (no offical pg-13)
and as anyone that has seen it, things got akword in the living room when the strip club scene came on.
