Ninja Ressurection: Revenge of Jubei

First of all, does it have anything to do with Ninja Scroll? The thing i watched it it was because there were two magic words in the title, for any Ninja Scroll fan: Ninja and Jubei. But couldn't find too many similarities except for the main character's name. All in all, it was a great dissapointment. Does this have a second episode or something? Couls it be Ninja Hellspawn its continuation?
Secondly. What's this deal with Shogo (or Shoto) Amakusa. Was it for real? He also appears in the Rurouni Kenshin series. All this stuff about the Christian's being chased around Japan, was all that for real?

Ninja Ressurrection has NO relation to Ninja Scroll in every aspect. Ninja Ressurrection was just absolute shit.

well, theirs the anime series for ninja scroll, and thats in in the proces of being released (the first 3 dvd's have come out here) .

ninja reasurection however has some very naster rape and necrophilia scens, and some other wierd shit. absolute shit anime though

Ninja Ressurection is/was part of a series and this is what was released here in the U.S. I'm not sure, but I think there was more that was available in Japan, but don't quote me on it. The two episodes were taken and put together on video/DVD probably trying to grab the audience of Ninja Scroll. The Jubei in Ninja Ressurection is actually based on a historical character whereas Ninja Scroll's Jubei is purely fictional.
I personally liked Ninja Ressurection.

Yeah but all the characters seemed so hasty to say their line and exit, stage right. You got all those cool ninja buddies, and what do you make with them, just get them into the story for 2 minutes? Speaking of characters, they're badly built. Maybe, if there is a sequel they explain more there but since i saw only this ep. which seemed hasted, that's why i didn't like that much this movie.
BTW, why was musashi laughing about in the end when he met jubei?

More than likely. Muraki makes mention of it in Descendents of Darkness as he toys with Tsuzuki. And given the fact that religious persecution happened in damn near every "civilized" part of the world back in the day, this wouldn't surprise me, one bit.

Japan didnt really count as civilized(or maybe you could say it was a different type of civilized) back then, but yes, Christians were persecuted in Japan during the time surrounding the Kenshin series and i guess Ninja Ressurection. Really most of the persecution happened before the Meiji Era, I cant remember exactly when, and a lot of Christians were either forced out of the country, into hiding, or were just killed and tortured and stuff.

Now I personally couldnt stand Ninja Ressurection. I probably thought it would be similar to Ninja Scroll, but it just sucked instead. I heard they had planned to release more of it but it had done so poorly that they didnt. Looking back now, it was stupid to think it had anything to do with Ninja Scroll, as the two main characters have different last names.....
