live action eva name changes

I have concept designs from WETA that show Rei's name to be changed to Ray and Asuka to Kate Rose. These images have another sig on them so im 90% sure that these are the character names. They might have also changed Tokyo-3 to New City. They are beginning the ruination of Eva forever!

This is the sort of thing that gets discussed around here almost 0-day. With such a subject, several times.

Those were nothing more than <b>concept art</b>.

The movie doesn't even have a director yet.

It is FAR too early to be complaining about things like this, when we don't even know whether they'll actually be adopted.

OMG they are changing the character names... and the city name... OMG.

That is absolutely the least of your worries... who cares if its Rei or Rey... Who cares if its Tokyo-3 ot New York. If the characters remain true and the story reflects what was attemtped to be protyrayed in the anime/manga, then cosmetic changes are a moot point.

Am I the only person out there who's convinced that this is really Anno's last-ditch maneuver to rid himself of the EVA fandom once and for all?

I mean, think about it...as story goes, part of the reason he made EoE was basically a giant 'Fuck you' to a lot of the fandom...the plan backfires and they love it...

So, what better way to get the last laugh on them, than an Americanized live-action version

...prob. not the case, but I can almost see it happening

Anno : Dammit, I need to get rid of this pesky EVA Fandom.

AVD : Anno, let us make an Americanized live-action version of your anime.

Anno : PERFECT! *Evil Laugh™*

And on the topic of the name changing, it just wouldn't be Eva to me if the names were changed.

But, the thing I'm worried about is, Where in the world are they going to find girls hot enough to play Asuka and Rei?
