Personally, I think Love Hina and Chobits are overrated. Don't get me wrong, I like both of them, but are they the ultimate anime in their genre ? Not by a long shot.

Actually I always found cowboy bebop to be a bit on the overrated side. don't get me wrong its worth watching... but i think its one of those im bored so let me pop something i haven't brushed the dust off of animes instead of the huge deal people make about it.

the original vampire hunter d, it was good but my friend who had it was all like "OMG! this is so f8cking great, you have to see this," after that build up iwas just thoroughly underwhelmed, the story was weak and the animation was bad, so many re-used bits!...i did give it credit for it's age but animes that i have seen that are just as old were so much better animation-wise

I gotta agree wit Chobits. Call me crazy but I don' see whas' so fucking great about a love story between a grown man and his preteen shaped computer.

I actually enjoyed chobits more than i did love hina... (LH felt like a 1 gag anime.. done over and over and dragged out to ridiculous extremes) as for the love story behind man and computer... I don't get the big deal either

Although I do love when I turn on my pc and it goes " Welcome professor!" in a sexy voice...

By far I think the number one most overrated is Akira. Slightly below that would be Ghost in the Shell. Also I just want to mention Ranma 1/2 as well. I don't think it's as overrated as the first two I listed, but I still feel it's one of the more overrated shows.
See you space cowboy...

Aliens, are you a peaceful race.
