what animes make you cringe when you hear the horrible dubbing? which ones make you giggle with delight for how well they fit the characters?

Trigun could have had better acting, and possibly a better cast.

Ranma 1/2 refused to watch teh second episode (shivers) didn't like he voices at all, i think i'll stick with the manga.

Good Dub:
DBZ (though the movies aren't done as well)
Cowboy Bebop
Gundam the 08th Ms Team

Bad Dub:
Crest of the Stars
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Gundam Seed

Good:

-Bastard!! (granted the heavy metal jokes are missed, and oddly enough, this time Wendee Lee is the one that takes a while to get into her role while everyone else fits seamlessly...nevertheless though, a good dub...really can't see any other VA doing Dark Schneider justice.)
-Lupin III (the Geneon dub airing on CN...at first the idea of updating the script didn't set right...but the way they do it actually gives it a pretty nice touch.)
-Hellsing (Every so often, it's nice to hear a dub where the added accents actually work well...)

Bad:

-Aura Battler Dunbine (To this day, I'm not sure how Macek figured out this one:
Let's give all the people in Byston Well blatantly faked British/Irish accents...as for the Texan, the New Yorker and the Russian...eh, they don't need 'em!)

If anyone was following up my rants in the past, you KNOW what dubs I don't like. Because of them, Ayashi no Ceres got ungodly slaughtered with their emotionless and cliched acting skills.

For good dubs...hmmm, being a dub fan there's quite a lot of anime I considered to be pretty good. Your Under Arrest comes into mind since Coastal Carolina Studios practically found a new direction and emotion of the characters of which even the Japanese creators didn't even discover. FLCL is another one because the Japanese and English VAs sound EXACTLY alike, it's creepy. Oh yeah, gotta love any CLAMP anime dubbed by Bang Zoom! Entertainment; they KNOW how to bring life into the characters (though I have yet to see Magic Knights Rayearth). 8)

In my case if anyone might remember dubs are mostly non grata to me.

But I'll say that although in an anime purist view the Dubs for CCS and SM are horrible, I just can't hate Serena's Valley girl accent or Kero's surfer dude voice. They're just hilarious.

DBZ is passable because KaMeHaMeHa is the same in all languages.

The dubs for Cowboy Bebop, Trigun & Inuyasha are also good enough.

But the one for Gravitation is a travesty

and the people responsible should be killed...twice.

The voice acting is so dry, especially for Shuichi, which is wrongful since he's very hyper all the time.

To me dubbings in general are a detriment to the art.
Personally if a movie is in whatever language, I'll watch the original with subtitles if needed be.
What's the point of getting a product that's second best?

Some people like the "sound" of the voice in the dubs better than the original. I guess the Japanese seiyuu voices sometimes annoy but that's not the point, nor a good argument to like dubs better than the originals.

Ok, cutting this short (if it can be called that) before I go more off topic.

PS: Pray for future dubs, so that they may be less horrible.

the worst ive ever heard was the early dragonball z movies dubb....so poor!
im not sure which country they were from trying to speak english.....
they got the names wrong for each character (ie goku = gohan)... the special moves were also renamed....FUSION HAA = COMBINE...... & kamehamehaa!!!! = dragonball power!!!......
it was soooo bad....the worst of all dubbs....but yet funny as hell....

i dont particulaly like the ranma dubbing terefore i aint gonna attempt to watch inuyasha......& slayers got on my nerves.....
any way i aint gonna name all the bad 1s otherwise i'd b a long list...

but for the good which i think was better than the jap...

Nadesico......loved it
golden boy....can only be done in english...
outlaw star was decent apart from a few characters...

hmmmm i'll leve it there for now.....
