The Horror, the sheer absolute Horror
The latest show to be on Nick
... if it wasn't for Megas XLR, i would just generically say to hell with anime, thanks to this amerime knocking it down.
THIS IS A FAD, IT WILL EITHER BLOW UP BIGGER OR HOPEFULLY DIE DOWN TO A DULL ROAR.
ok at this point i realize i'm just saying stuff in anger, but i'm seriously sick and tired of this crap. i KNOW i'm working on AMV's acting all otaku and even working on an amerime piece of junk, but i'm just frickin tired of all of this.

It doesn't come out until November, right? So I highly doubt any of us has seen enough of it to know whether it's any good or not. Sure the name sucks, but still.
And besides... why is it such a bad thing that we're seeing an increased Japanese influence on American animation?
Also, can anyone translate that kanji for the non-Japanese-readers here?

I consider it a bad thing because it seems to indicate a decrease on original ideas in animation.
also, it's a huge business problem. the new big thing is out and everyone and their lesbian aunt is going to use it more and more until the concept is saturated, dated, old, and eventually discarded. look at grunge and hair metal. i don't want that to happen to anime.
paranoia paranoia everybody's coming to get me......

It's only a bad thing if it's badly done... though I think if a show is bad done in a vaguely anime style, then it would be bad in any animation style. Not that they're all bad. But most of them don't really FEEL anime-like to me, in spite of the animation. Though maybe I'm just biased or something. Or maybe it's because they're not in japanese? Oh wait, scratch that, the better dubs I've seen, at least, still feel like anime.Scintilla wrote:It doesn't come out until November, right? Maybe it's that sense of close-but-not-quite-there, you know? Like they follow some of the anime stuff, facial expressions and that kind of thing, but you wouldn't see a nosebleed, and some of it is more typical for american animation. That type of thing.

*sneers*
Amerime will never ever be Anime.
Can anime die in the US? Maybe.
Can it die in the West? Not likely.
Will it ever die at its birthplace of Japan? Never, unless it evolves to something else.
Plus anime is meant for the Japanese not the gaijin.
Is the outside Japan anime market lucrative? Yes.
Do they need said market to survive? Hell no and they never will.
That is all...

Regular evolution of things, especially when you take something from its natural setting (japan) and throw it in to a whole new environment (America). It will undoubtedly adapt into an American from of anime. Sort of, teen titans and all that.
keep watching stuff made in japan, feed the inner addiction.I'm gonna miss the days of good ol' regular anime.
