Whats with all the sad/Depressing endings in anime?
-Evangelion(Has 2 endings)
-Cowboy Bebop
-Berserk
-Ninja Scroll
-Akira

whats wrong with ninja scroll and akira??? granted it wasnt all rainbows and flowers, but it was a decent way to finish it considering the setting and the type of anime it was.

by the way, a thread for this has already been started, you should have posted your opinion there.

I think saying Eva has a depressing ending is interpreting it too skeptically, particularly in terms of the TV series

At least I didn't think that

I guess looking back on it, the best TV series conclusion in my mind is the one on Ranma 1/2. Even though a movie and an entire OVA series followed chronologically, i like how the series ended on a slightly sentimental note with Ranma's Mother finally showing up and there's something intrinsically tragic in the fact that Ranma can never tell his Mother who he really is even when she's right in front of him. And just when it looks as if Nodoka can finally lay eyes on her beloved Son.... it rains and he turns into a girl. Maybe that part was supposed to be comical, but it just pulled my heartstrings really hard. Ranma can never truly be together with his Mother the way he'd like to be....

omfg its like no matter how many times people say this there is always some other person who asks the same question over and over.That wasn't the end of Berserk they ran out of money so they couldn't make any more episodes.Because it was shown late at night and hardly ever for its content.

I'll say this, this isn't really a duplicate topic.

sad/depressing doesn't necessarily equate to worst ever.
For instance, I think the end of GW: Endless Waltz was a dispondent emotionally downtrodden send off, but I still love it, and therefore it is not a bad ending (it is not information to further the other topic) and it belongs here.
