What is it.... [that you like about anime]

What is it you like the most about anime. I'm not talking about what anime you like ( and please refrain FROM posting your favorite anime).
I mean why do you like anime in general.
For me, it's an escape from reality and it has so much variety.

Because it is entertaining...
Many animes are so much funny jet they can be very serious.
Not to mention all the hot anime girls they draw.
They are charcaters that can do anything overhumane.
It is an escape from reality.
It is an oportunity to learn another point of view from another perspective of another language. (If your not Japanese)

My main reason is that they make me laugh. Not all of them, some can be very serious. But I love anything that makes me laugh.

I guess I also like it because I can draw them so well. It's fun to draw what I watch.

I always picture myself as the male protagonist in the anime, a person with cool powers/skills, cool hairdo and a beautiful female companion where in the end, they'll be together. or if not, then it will be a very dramatic scene with a very moving reason why their love was never meant to be.

i think it's mainly the stories that the creators come up with, they're just so much better than most other forms in my opinion...

Someone from "The Movie Show" was intereviewing me the other day and asked that very question. Damned if i can remeber what I said... Think I handed it over to Mark.

Essentially it comes down to unique plotlines and subject matters that don't get expressed well or at all in Western media. But even then I'm only really fond of certain genre's of anime.
Bizzare comedy works on so many levels. And I'll watch most movies... really it's just something I watch. There's probably more anime that I won't watch than that I will. If the product works, it works.

I love the various stories, sometimes emotional and complex, other times completely crazy, and sometimes everything in between. I love the art and deep chracters. It's a ways for me to get away from life and enjoy something that is different from everything else out there.
