English dubbed anime by Filipinos

Post by angelx03 » Wed Jan 12, 2005 12:48 am

Interesting stuff I discovered. At the moment, I thought all of anime series licensed by Viz were dubbed by the Ocean Group (with the exception of Saikano). Then I lurked around in this thread in ANN and discovered that two series were dubbed by Filipinos. The series were Corrector Yui and Great Dangaioh, and they're dubbed by a company Telesuccess Productions. I would never of thought that Viz would do such a thing and because of that I might check out those series out.

Kind of neat, huh? :D

I find it a little scary myself. The only anime I know that was dubbed in the Phillipines was Yu Yu Hakusho (though I don't think it was an English dub). They completely rewrote relationships and changed the story so much I *still* can't discuss it with people who've seen that version because we might as well be talking about two different shows. It's scary how much you can change, just by rewriting the dialogue. :(

Though, I admit Vincent isn't a bad name for Hiei, if you're a FF7 fan. ;p

yea dub quite a few...the one i knew very much of was YYH...quite a change they made there...
-name different
-Kurama as a girl and supossedly pretendin to be a grl...(although later on that sliped)
-Yusuke instead of being a decendant of Raizen...became the son of Raizen...(scary thought AtsukoxRaizen O.O)
also Rurouni Kenshin being titled Samurai X instead and not showing the OVA...
later...

Outsourcing as usual?

Although I suppose it's all fine so long as it's not too noticeable.

What I would like to see now is HK bootleg dubs. Eh, they could probably turn something like SaiKano into comedy gold
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

All the girls from the fillipines at our school are super-dooper hyper and like to talk. :*

Perhaps it carries into the show.

Good for the Philippines then...
Most if not all dubbings are sub par to me anyhow.
Though I wonder if they'll ever have a 'Tagalog' dub?
On second thought, no, that shouldn't happen.

Mr. Oni you're always the same.
