one step closer to labors

Post by Kai Stromler » Tue Jan 18, 2005 8:45 am

This robot isn't a pilotable construction machine.......but in 10 years, who knows?

Izubuchi also did mechanical design for a couple Gundam titles, but the thing's resemblance to the Ingram is really striking. Also note that the arms are by Yaskawa (probably meaningless to the 99.9+% of this site's patrons who do not work with industrial robots), so this thing is no toy. The Yaskawa robots I've worked with have been extremely reliable, and even when they go buggy, their construction is so solid that they manage to avoid getting damaged. Interesting to see how this thing works out in the field -- any other anime robots you'd like to see realized?

I always thought VF Fighters were mean. I just hate mechs that don't transform. Especially when your in them. Worthless.

No, seriously, I'd love to see something transform as I was inside. Freaky cool :D .

Ooooh, a toy it might not be, but I still wouldn't mind having one.

I'm not too familiar with Kawada's project, but from what I read, Honda's ASIMO is actually the better of the two. From what I remember, ASIMO can actually learn things on its own while Kawada's project has to be programmed through software. Besides, ASIMO is already at it's second release.

I actually saw the HRP-2 at a recent Robotics Expo, nto far from where I live. It was pretty cool, and the area was packed with people who wanted to see.
