Has anyone here ever seen the anime Beck? If so, please tell me how it is so I can buy the DVDs coming out for it. Thanks.

It's been good so far of what I've seen. And this belongs in General Anime, not General AMV....

I've heard good things about it. I meant to read the scanaltions but Tokyopop licensed it before I got the chance. I believe they're releasing the first volume in July.

It's definitely a very good show, although it took me a while to get to like it (a great thing in the manga was the open-endedness it left to the imagination as far as the music they were playing, the anime sort of killed that dimenstion... not to say it's not fun). The thematic itself gets respect from me.

As far as the DVD's - unless you seek to blow mad cash on importing original, un-translated disks from Japan, good luck. It hasn't been licensed anywhere else yet.

On a side note, I believe that there is an actual band called 'Beck'.

Actually he's a musician. Beck Hansen. (that song Loser, amongst other great greats)
Honestly i think it's great that the anime is able to incorporate everything that is rock/punk. well that and good good drama/shojo/whatever it is.
one other thing, any anime that references the Ramones in the opening credits and Sid Vicious, James Brown and (maybe) the genitorturers in the closing credits is worth taking a good look at.

I'm pretty sure that's a Kurt Cobain reference at the end of the ED, there.

There is. Says "Kurt 1994"

I didn't like this show to begin with, but after seeing the third ep, I decided to give it another try.

The show references a LOT of real life musicians/bands. It's quite a great show :)

And as for blowing mad cash on the R2's.... heh...... uh... guilty :\

This show is awesome! If there is indeed some way that you are looking to buy the DVD's (as long as you are sure they aren't bootlegs!) then I highly recommend getting ahold of it. You won't be dissapointed if music anime is your thing.
