Your favorite art in Anime
What Anime series/movie do you really admire the art in? For me it's mostly anime where that actually put in the time to give the characters more details, like when they actaully give 'em nostrils. For example Tenjo Tenge, Naruto and Bible Black. Share with us what you look for in anime art, and what series has art that you look at and go "damn dat's good! O_o"... please share whatever you can. I'm very interested...

To be honest I'm more interested in the style of the character designs than in the execution; hence I really like the Patlabor series (for the characters, not just the Labors) and all of ABe's works (Lain, NiEA_7, Haibane, Texhnolyze) for their character designs, though I can also appreciate the unique approaches taken by Lain and Texhnolyze.
Generally those that break from the norm in their depiction of characters appeal to me the most; again shows like ABe's works and the Patlabor series, with their (mostly) realistically proportioned characters, and Kino's Journey with its gender-ambiguous (for the first few episodes at least) main character.
Logically this also means that I tend not to find well-executed shows impressive if I don't think much of the character designs, hence I'm not a fan of Naruto or Kiddy Grade, despite the obvious quality of the graphics.
I also have something of a soft-spot for shoujo-style aesthetics; Tokyo Babylon, X and Fruits Basket all get my vote!
So yes, what I look for in the looks of an anime isn't the quality of the art/animation, or the 'dynamism' of the action scenes if there are any, but rather the character design. Indeed, this carries over into the general execution of the anime as well, as I find the characterisation to be one of the most important factors.
But yes, my favourite overall? It probably has to be Patlabor, though that's probably a lot to do with how attached I became to the characters thanks to the way they are brought out in the storyline, as well as the way they look.
It remains the only series for which I have multiple artbooks (three at the moment), and I'm always looking to expand my collection. Yay for stylised, yet realistically proportioned characters!

Generally, I really don't like anime people with big eyes (I think character designs like the ones on AIR TV are just plain creepy). Something about it just bugs me. I like .hack//SIGN animation because the faces are enough in proportion, the backgrounds are really excellent as well. I love Haibane Renmei art because the backgrounds are absolutely beautiful, like they're all watercolor or something. I also like Naruto animation to a certain degree. Usually, if it was an anime with lots of 12-/13-year-olds, there would be a lot of huge eyes and dots for noses. But the animation of Naruto seems to slack very often, especially with hands and stuff, I prefer the manga's art over the anime.
As for what art sticks out to me, I'm not too particular about. I don't like lots of buildings and junk in the view. Countryside scenes like Haibane Renmei's or large shady trees are good. But I really love all of the made-up landscapes, like .hack//SIGN's, they are just amazing to look at. I don't have a screencap, but just go around and look at pictures of 'The World's servers, they are just amazing!

I like the Naruto anime art more than the manga because well the artists that do the anime can draw alot better than Kishimoto, and the pokemon Manga art is awesome its very well drawn. One reason I like Naruto's is because unlike so many animes like Yu Yu Hakusho the characters actually look there age,But i'm also very found of Dragonball Z,Rahxephon, and Berserks art style.Fma's is ok.
