Have you ever had that WTF feeling after watching an anime? Have you ever watched an anime, and it left you thinking "WHAT THE FUCK!".
If so, which one?
For me, after I saw Pilot Candidate, I was ticked because it ended so abruptly leaving absolutely no clue as to what happens next.

Practically any Gainax animes series I've finished such as FLCL and the Melody of Oblivion. The ending is practically left open for interpretation (to a point where I think I need to watch FLCL again ).
The ending of Konomini on the other hand was absolutely piss-poor and rushed with a HUGE amount of plot holes.

Wolf's Rain
Ayashi No Ceres
FLCL
NGE
Gasaraki
Gungrave
KareKano
Yeah, there are enough of those where i was really confused after the ending. But then again, i did like a lot of the edings. I did love how Wolf's Rain ended, and same goes for Gasaraki and FLCL. Just too bad KareKano never really ended (atleast in the anime) and gungrave was just a big WTF!

I got that "WTF" after watching the first Tenchi Muyo series, because it looked like there would be a lot more to the story.
Let's not limit this just endings.
I got ticked off while watching SD Gundam. It just made a mockery of Gundam0079, Gundam Wing, and everything that is Gundam. It's a disgrace to the Gundam name.

Criminey, this is spoiler city. Here goes.
Kare Kano
As a six year old kid, I hated the ending of "The Empire Strikes Back". It was dark and left to many answers unresolved. As an adult, it is my favorite of those films. Anime is one of the few places that gives me that sense of wonder with questions nagging in my mind. We could use some more series like that.
Kare Kano
Wolf's Rain and NGEKare Kano gets a bum rap and the people of Gainax hang their heads low when the subject is brought up. THere was a creative disagreement with the creator of the manga who owned the rights and the Gainax production team. The production team wanted to keep the humor that had been in the show up to then, the creator wanted more or strictly romance. And a big split opened between the two parties. The series was created with the intention of a second season being done, but it didn't happen to everyone's sadness.
I like having endings that are not so clear cut. Not all the time, but something thought provoking is rather nice. If your idea of a cool series/movie is one where you sit with your friend and keep telling each other "Remember that scene? That was really cool!!" over and over, you may dislike these endings. If you like sitting with your friends and asking "What do you think happened there? Or what do you think this meant?" you'll come to like the endings much better.I was not smart enough to realize what was going at the end of these shows. A much smarter, patient, and nicer person than me took the time to tell me what occured at their endings. The more I repeat view these series, the more her explanations hold up. The Engrish ADR director of Evangelion Matt Greenfield, once stated that everything that occured in the show was being recalled in Shinj's mind. The only two episodes that occur in realtime was the last two. Did everything occur the way he remembered them? or was it all made up in the mind of a fragile child? Not exactly what the fans wanted but in his only United States con appearance, Anno told a fan in clear English "Too Bad".

Melody of Oblivion struck me as having a rushed ending, too. Konomini really annoyed me, they had so many angles I wanted to see explored.angelx03 wrote:Practically any Gainax animes series I've finished such as FLCL and the Melody of Oblivion. The first time I saw Interlude, I had a huge WTF moment. It made sense the second time.
