I just saw this in the news and it's very disturbing considering all the great talent they have done there. Was this their main dubbing studio? I can't even count all the great animes that were dubbed there. That's scary. I wonder what's going to happen to the voice actors who worked down there like Greg Ayres and Vic Mignogna?
"AD Vision Closes One of Its Dubbing Studios
ADV Films has closed it's Austin, Texas dubbing studio which went under the name Monster Island. The studio was responsible for the English dubs of recent releases including Get Backers and Petite Princess Yucie."
The more I look it up, the more it depresses me. =( First they lose the Saiyuki dubbing and now this.... I've only got one thing to say...
THEY BETTER BE MOVING OPERATIONS TO PORTLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ADV has closed Monster Island??? NOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's put it this way. Monster Island is basically ADV's second dubbing studio. They've done dubs like the Getbackers, Samurai X (the Movie and OVAs), Puchi Puri Yuushi, Nadia, Sakura Wars, Wedding Peach, and a couple of other series that are pretty underrated. The VAs that you mentioned are part of Industrial Smoke and Mirrors so they're not out of the job.
One reason I can think of why ADV is doing these changes is because they probably "saturated" the anime market and getting involved in too many projects (like with the Anime Network, their manga division which pretty much sucks, the live-action Eva movie, NewType, and so on). Of course they finally realized their pretty much losing money.

(Or, in theme with the upcoming Easter, ADV has put too many eggs in one basket, and most of them are raw and unpainted.)
I still wonder if ADV is ever going to go through with their 2005 "theatrical release" promise, in light of the poor anime theater performance. I read them saying things like "we're going to get wide distribution" and all of this, but with the layoffs and all the troubles, ADV's promises might just be more pipe dreams.
