LIVE ACTION EVA CAST!!
A friend of mind told me something about that the film project that I once thought was completly dead has gotten some new life breathed into it. The EVA Live Action which was what anounced like 2 years ago and never got pass concept art is starting to move again. Fran Walsh, one of the producers and writers of the LOTR trilogy has been talking too Haley Joel Osment, Emma Watson, and Ian McKellan about the project. My guess is that Haley Joel Osment is being concidered for the part of Shinji, Emma Watson as Asuka Langley, and Ian Mckellan as Fuyutsuki Kouzou I think.

Hmm, I thought they were still looking for a director:

If someone is shopping talent now, and they are looking for a director, could that mean that things might finally be picking up?
(The only "tentative release date" I've seen on this was 2006, according to ANN. So, if they are trying to cast now, maybe the production phase isn't so far off...)

Anyone ever considered the fact that they may have allready started shooting it and are just keeping quiet while leting the rumors fly? Imagine the shock if someday, after 0 or so official anouncments for a year or 2, gainax just pops up saying "eva live action, finished. in cinemas next week". It will certianly blow people away.

That would be cool but unfortunately people here in New Zealand latch on to anything to do with Weta Studios, Fran Walsh or LOTR stars so if anything was happening it would already have several websites with leaked footage out there from people sneaking in to the supposed secure location of Weta Studios and anyway they haven't finished King Kong yet.
The world is not spherical today

A: If they're doing it correctly, even if they have a director, they're going to be searching for two Japanese kids (probably Japanese-American kids) to play the parts of Shinji and Rei. Asuka can be played by a normal American girl. They'll also be looking for kids in the 15-17 range, maybe 18 if they're planning on having any nudity (hey, it's Eva for cryin out loud). In either case, their aren't too many people who'd look the part out their, so they're probably gonna be searching for a while. But the first thing they'll be doing is deciding on a director.

Asuka just can't be played by anyone. The ideal actress would have to be red-haired (or agree to dye their hair orange/red), of German descent, and be able to speak (or at least fake) German.EmilLang1000 wrote:Asuka can be played by a normal American girl.
I keep hearing they are looking for the 14-16 range. Also, note that the original series really didn't have any nudity except for the Rei tank. They can get away with the Austin Powers tricks. (Remember the "toothpicks" scene in Episode 2? )EmilLang1000 wrote:They'll also be looking for kids in the 15-17 range, maybe 18 if they're planning on having any nudity (hey, it's Eva for cryin out loud).
This is perhaps the most difficult decision to make, and will take the most time. Some directors who get in the chair tend to have their own "vision" asides from the "other stuff". If they get the right person, this movie really will be good. If they get the wrong person, then we can say goodbye to another potential title.EmilLang1000 wrote:But the first thing they'll be doing is deciding on a director.
