Looking for an anime with 16-year-old main characters...FMP?
When I was 14, I saw Neon Genesis Evangelion, and I credit my extreme enthusiasm for the series (although long dulled due to overexposure) to the fact that I was the same age as the main characters.
Now, I'm 16, but in June, I'll be 17, and before I become another year older, I'd like to have the same experience that I had with NGE all over again, except this time with a different anime. It'd be great if it could be a giant robot anime, maybe something reminiscient of Evangelion (An "NGE Do-Over" ?), but what I'm looking for is an anime with 16-year-old main characters.
I have heard that Full Metal Panic is similar to Evangelion, and that some of its central characters are 16. The box set is being released in nine days. Before I make my purchase, I'd like to know if you think it fits the bill, or if there is a better choice I could be making.
Yes, I know, this is a rather childish reason to pick which anime to buy, but I want to go through with it all the same.

Try Vandread. It's a great show. The main character is 16-years-old, in a manner of speaking, and the leading lady is also age 16.

Heh, this may be lame, but Gundam Wing Endless Waltz. They're all 16, I think.
Also, if you watch Ronin Warriors, the sub, they're all 16. If you watch the dub, they're 17-18. *sniff* I love this series....
Uhm, what else.... I think in X Kamui is 16. Full Moon wo Sagashite Mitsuki turns into a 16-year-old. Uhm, uh.... Heh, Yucie has a char in it who's 17 but she looks 12. ^^; Yeah, I know, useless...
Only one I can really say is Ronin Warriors.

Wow. Cromartie High, Vandread, Endless Waltz, Ronin Warriors, X...There are a lot more choices than I thought. Well, I won't be able to comment on Cromartie High until I find some information on it, but I've wanted to see Vandread and X for quite some time now. I saw Endless Waltz a while ago, and it didn't really appeal to me. I remember watching Ronin Warriors, when I was really young, on Cartoon Network, I think. My memories of it are pretty muddled, so I'd like to see it again.
Thanks, everyone, I hadn't expected to hear that I had such a variety of choices! I've only heard one person's opinion on FMP, though - could anyone else let me know if it's worth it?

FMP is a pretty good anime, although it's not really like Eva except that yes, there are mechs, although they are not as important as they are in Eva. It's got a good mix of humor, drama, and action too. And yes, Sousuke is 16. I'd definitely recommend it, and I've heard Fomoffu is absolutely hilarious (it's next on my list of things to watch).
If you do like Eva, I'd recommend watching RahXephon when you're 17.
The main character, Ayato, is 17. . . and there are giant robots. Rather pretty giant robots, actually.
And yes, you should also watch X, although there aren't any robots (unless you count Beast in a few episodes). Watch the series though- the movie is pretty lame, IMO.

Geez, so many...! I wonder if there are many anime with 22 year old main characters... Hmmm... I wonder.
Anyway, now that my musing is over, if you're looking for something in the 16 or 17 year old department, Rumiko Takahashi works are also good sources. Ranma Saotome is 17, and I believe Ataru Moroboshi is too.
That or he's 16.
All worth a look.
