My New Ringing Bell/Chirin No Suzu Website

There is a little known anime called "Ringing Bell". Also known as the Bell of Chirin and Chirin no Suzu.

It is the dramatic story of a lamb, Chirin, who's mother is killed by a wolf. Chirin sets out to have revenge on the wolf, but ends up asking the wolf to train him to be a wolf. The wolf finally agrees and raises Chirin to be a killer.

Interesting? Bizarre? Yes.

This movie was one of my very first tastes of anime. It was from the makers of Unico and came out at the same time. I have to say, as kid, the movie was shocking. I laugh at a lot of it now, but much of it is still very strong in story. I LOVE the wolf! His voice, his design, his lines. It's really not a movie meant for the very young. Between all the death and a few "hell"s thrown around here and there.
