My friend have a 3 DVD Box Set with the English subtitles... maybe you should look for it at the stores or conventions.

Yep usually box sets that only have 3-dvds are bootlegs well not bootlegs but imports.

I hate imports. I don't think the video quality is that great when theres a lot of motion its fuzzy [like the FX Fushigi yuugi imports dvds]. I think its because it is encoded too much so they can fit more episodes on a dvd. And I know that lowers the quality.

Though sometimes you have to get imports. They are cheaper! and some of us get them to see more anime. The ones that aren't released in the US yet or never will be.

Not really. We have fansubs for unlicensed things; and 'seeing more anime' isn't the noblest exceuse for piracy.

If it comes down to it, it's probably better to download illegally than buy a bootleg - at least that way you're not putting money in the pockets of Chinese mafia.

FYI, DN Angel is being released in Region 1 by ADV. It's on a 7-DVD release schedule with volumes 1-5 having 4 episodes each and volumes 6-7 having 3 episodes each for a total of 26 episodes for the entire series. Volumes 1-4 are currently out with volume 5 scheduled to be released on 6/7/05 and volume 6 to be released on 7/19/05.

I found out all this information from Anime News Network.

I wanted to offer a clarification to Jen's post: If a series is on 3 DVDs and it's a 24-26 (or some number near that) episode series, then yes, it's most likely a bootleg. If a disc has eight or more episodes, it's guaranteed to be a bootleg--I've never heard of any legit discs with that many.

However, not all 3-disc sets are bootleg; some R1 releases for short shows like [Now and Then, Here and There], Koi Kaze, Ai yori Aoshi: Enishi, and Key the Metal Idol are 12-15 episodes on 3 discs. Some others, like Sakura Diaries, Sentimental Journey, and Seraphim Call are 12 eps on 2 discs. Still, many 2 disc sets are bootlegs, as well; the norm for short series, like Haibane Renmei, Please Teacher, Please Twins, Lain, Comic Party, etc. is four discs.

And I have to say, those Fushigi Yuugi bootlegs, for all their shortcomings, are still quite a piece of work, as I've never seen ten episodes on a disc before. To the OP, though, I must say that we can't discuss how to obtain bootlegs or downloads, so get the legit DVDs or ask somewhere else.
