Most Evil Bad Guy in Anime

Post by EmilLang1000 » Thu May 26, 2005 10:48 pm

This forum's designed for people to debate whom they think are the most villianous antagonsists in Anime.
The Rules are pretty basic:
1. No spoilers. If you need to mention specific events that'd ruin the plot of the show, please camoflauge it.
2. No flaming. These are people's opinions of whom they think are the most evil villians, and so long as they have evidence to back up their beliefs, it's all good; even if they don't, don't flame em.
3. Try to be serious. This is a pretty solemn topic, so keep it straightforward.
4. Antagonists only, please. Remember, the definition of "antagonist" is someone whom antagonizes, or in literary terms, whom causes the change of events in the story, so it leaves room for a little leniency in bad guys. Think of characters that'd make Machiavelli cringe in his poofy pants.

Simple as that. Now start spreading the word of the Dark Side.

To start things off, I'll list my own personal favorite for most evil villain:

Gendo Ikari, from Neon Genesis Evangelion.
If Darth Vader is considered the most evil bad guy in movie history because he cut off his own son's hand, then Gendo just about makes Freddy Cruger seem like Santa Clause.
Here's a dark character that Shakespeare himself couldn't concoct. Gendo is manipulating, heartless, and above all else, psychotic to no ends; he'd sacrifice his own son without a second's thought in order to see his own sick desires brought to life.
In actuallity, Gendo doesn't even recognize his son as even human; for that matter, neither does he for anyone else, except Yui, his wife, and of course Rei. To him, people are just things to be used to achieve the ends he wishes. Being the direct cause of death for anybody never phases the man. Even Rei, whom he risked his own life to save once, is merely an object in his eyes (to quote, he even says, "She's not dead yet..." in the first episode, when Fuyutski objects to him sending her to fight the Angel.)
Several times, Gendo's nearly allowed his own son to die, and would willingly sacrifice him if not for the fact that 01 will only let Shinji pilot it. In fact, he only ever worries about 01's safety; he'd still allow Shinji to die with no regret, if he didn't need the boy for a greater purpose.

For his sick mind, merciless nature, and total disregard for human life, especially that of his own son, Gendo Ikari gets my vote for the most likely individual to get his own layer of Hell, as well as the most Evil Anime Villain.

Good Bad Guys

Post by inuhikarifan » Fri May 27, 2005 12:18 am

After reading the above speech, I don't think anyone can really top that, but I would just like to say that it is my humble opinion that bad guys should be evil and I hate it when, especially at the end of an anime/manga, they make you feel sorry for the bad guy. Or if they show a softer side to the bad guy and then you don't know who to vote for during a swordfight (hmmm...who am I talking about). Good villians (villians that ARE villians) are Krad (D.N.Angel) and Aion (Chrno Crusade) because you never see a nice side to them. Bad villians (inner softies) are Akito (Fruits Basket) and Dilandau (Escaflowne, manga version). Geez, if they are softies or you feel sorry for them, then they are no longer bad guys!

I haven't seen Eva so im not sure how evil he is.

for me i say Knives is damn evil, for one all humans are just crap to him, even his own cronies are just pawns for his plans. he alone has ruined countless lives because his belief humans are inferior to him and has made his own brother the most wanted man alive just because.
Life is but a dream.....So what happens when you wake up?

I mentioned them together in another forum, cause in many ways they are similar, that's all.

And I think you guys can come up with better, more evil bad guys. In rebuttle to Gendo, he at least shows SOME emotion towards those he deeply loves - even if it is disturbing love; that alone should make him a little more human, and less the absolute evil. Come on! I wanna see a vote for Friiza or something here!

Fento (I have seen it spelled other ways, but I think that is the english way) from Berserk. He is truly evil considering what he did.
